Have a Photopass Question? Ask me!

Forgive me if I ask a question that has been answered already but the "search" button doesn't show up on my ipad. I have the memory maker and have been editing all my pics so happy I got it. But now I want to upload some of the pics that I took and can't find where to do that. It does say in the faq's that I can but doesn't tell me where to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And a big thank you to all the disney photographers who gave us so many wonderful memories. You guys are awesome

You have to create a photobook or other project. You can only upload your own photos inside of photo projects to use them in the project. Once you create The project and go to photos you'll see upload photos.

Yeah uploading your own photos used to be an option but they took it off about a year ago. It used to be a cool option because you could then print your photos with a Disney border for 90 cents or something reasonable like that.

Thanks for the thread! Since the Memory Maker price is the same for multiple families traveling together sharing one package as opposed to just two people going to Disney World is it worth the same price for just a couple to purchase it? pirate:

Where do I find the MM information on MDE? I purchased it and received the card and went to register it. It said it's already registered to another account.

It depends on how much you use it. If you are doing a lot of the character dining restaurants, if you go on a lot of rides, and if you are into meeting characters, than yes. I know personally that if I was going with my family I personally would not get it. We are not character people so we never did the character dining restaurants and never waited in lines for characters. I'm scared of big rides like Tower of Terror or Rockin Roller Coaster and never bothered with the pictures anyway. Honestly before I got the job I was hardly aware of photopass photographers because my family just took our own photos.

So it really depends on your personalities and how you like spending your time. If you do get, I recommend at least stopping three times at an icon location. It's easy. First stop at the main icon when you walk in the park (the castle at MK, Spaceship Earth at Epcot, etc.). Then, make sure to stop by again as you are leaving the park in the afternoon or evening because the icon will look completely different with it's lights on. During the day, stop by a "secondary" icon location - every park has an icon that it identifiable even if it's not the main attraction. For example, you can usually find a photographer by:

Magic Kingdom - Main Street Train Station, Thunder Mountain, The Little Mermaid Ride, Beast's Castle

Epcot - France, Germany, Morocco, and roaming around world showcase (you can also get Spaceship Earth from the back with the lagoon in foreground)

Studios - Tower of Terror, the NY and San Fran backlots

Animal Kingdom - Everest

Assuming every photographer takes 2-5 photos in each interaction and assuming you visit all four park you can easily get 24-60 photos following this method.

Hope that helps!

thank you very much ChanaC!!!! I wrote down your suggestions and will follow them. I am going to get it because this is an awesome vacation and I will wish I would have if I don't. We will be there 8 days so we will make sure to get these pics.

Sorry if this has been asked before. The thread is long and I may have missed it:

1) In terms of Magic Shots, is there any way to get the photographer to help me interact more with the character in the shot? For instance, kissing Naveen or Stitch, or cuddling with Chip.

2) Do you know much about character handling? Are the only allowed to sign their names? I have this thing where I really want characters to draw hearts or something like that (I put them in a book to remind me not to be depressed) but I don't know if they're allowed.

3) Is it OK to kiss a mascot (as opposed to princess) like on the cheek or something for a photo? Or to request a pose like a curtsy?

4) I am building 2 autograph books-- one is a scrapbook and one is more compact. It is OK to ask for multiple autographs? I'd have all my materials out and ready to go.

Thanks for this informative thread!

The photographer should always tell you how to do a magic shot properly. For example, I'll say, "Point at the ground and look really surprised," for Stitch popping out of the ground or "Hold out your hand and look shocked" for Tinkerbell. Sometimes I'll actually move their hands or arms into the right spot. They'll let you know what to do.

2) Do you know much about character handling? Are the only allowed to sign their names? I have this thing where I really want characters to draw hearts or something like that (I put them in a book to remind me not to be depressed) but I don't know if they're allowed.

I know quite a bit since about 50% of my days were spent with characters and character attendants. They usually only sign their names, although I have seen others add a little note like "Love and kisses, Minnie Mouse XOXOX" or "Be Brave, Merida." Other characters drawn little things next to their name, like Elsa who draws little snowflakes or Ariel who draws little bubbles. You can ask but they may not be able to, especially if there is a long line and everyone is in a hurry to get it down. Also, there is a thing about continuity. If one Mickey draws a heart then the other Mickey's should draw a heart the same way and since that can't be guaranteed I don't think they will.

3) Is it OK to kiss a mascot (as opposed to princess) like on the cheek or something for a photo? Or to request a pose like a curtsy?

People do it all the time so you should be fine. Just make sure to ask.

Sure it's been done before. Have multiple pens so if you meet two characters they can each sign one.

What would you say is the best way to ask for a "personalization"? I'd love to have these done for any character that can, but I don't know what to say. And thank you so much for answering all these questions! They're so helpful!

Honestly, just be really nice. The characters tend to kind of hate being forced or feeling like they are forced to do something. I don't think there is much you can do to get them to do anything, but you can hint how special it would be if they could write anything they want. Overall, it's their choice and I know that some of them wouldn't do anything special. Just try to remember the experience. It's not really about the signature or the picture. They just represent the moment you spent with the character. The real emotion you will get from the interaction is the one you remember.

We just booked a trip for September over the weekend. I did not add the Memory Maker, I most likely won't. We don't usually go on many of the ride photo rides and aren't planning on any of the meals where they have the Pictures (are there PP photographers at ones like Crystal Palace?)

My questions are, can we still do the regular Photopass? Do you still get a card for this or is this added to the Magic Band? Do I need to do anything? If we buy any, it will probably only be 2 or 3 pics.

Consider your MagicBand a PhotoPass card you wear on your wrist. Nothing has changed really you can still purchase photos individually.

And no the crystal palace never has photographers.

Just remember if you buy just 8 pictures after you get home you have spent as much as you would if you preordered the entire library of pics on a CD. If you are sure you can keep it to less than 8 then ala carte is cheaper.

Hello....thank you so much for starting this thread, I have read every single post on here and there is just so much great information!!!!

Does anyone know how the runDisney photos are taken during events or how much a package is and if I can pre-order that?

I read on the Pirate Cruise postings and some said they had photopass people along for the ride and then some didn't, is there a way to find out if there will be one on any given cruise before I sign my son up for it?

Thanks in advance.....

I wonder if the difference in the reports you read are based on different cruises. We did the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Cruise, the one adults and kids alike do, and no PP photographers. Really the boat was too small to have them on it. If you are talking about the Pirate cruise that just kids do, they may well have one. Not sure. Just wondering out loud more than anything, since there are 2 "Pirate Cruises"

Paid for my Memory Maker... All ready. Chosen to pick up at Will Call, as I lived overseas. It already show up in my MDE right after it is paid for. Wonder how many photos will I be able to get.

Rundisney does all their photos through marathonfoto, so you'd have to talk to them about it. PhotoPass doesn't do photos for any of the rundisney events.

When I used to work at the Contemporary I would see and talk to the photographers who were doing the Pirate Cruise. I think they would take pictures of the kids before the boat left and then again when they came back (this time with Peter Pan). This was about a year ago so I am not sure if anything has changed since then.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my post. I thought PP was asking about photographers ON the boat. Yes, we did have PP photographers before and after for the M&Gs but not on the boat.

Hope you can help. We have purchased MM. Family from FL is visiting and while they are here we aren't gong to the parks.
Any idea outside of the parks where we could find PP photographers? We'd love a group shot that I can use to order my 2014 mug (souvenir that is a must do ;)!!)
I haven't had any luck adding the extra three nieces to our 1900PF reservation so...just wondering if we can't am I out of luck?
Thanks
