For everyone who is getting ready to go--have a great time!! We got back last week and had a blast! The weather was super--mid 80's day and low 70's night most days and clear all but one day. (Then I get home to highs in the 50's--brrrr!)

You will notice some tree damage. It really seems as though the pines have been thinned a lot--both in trees gone and many fewer needles. The section of FW next to the 1500 loop and over to the campfire area looks to me as though a small tornado had gone through. Lots of snapped and downed trees there! They lost a very large tree along the walkway/golf cart path to the marina. The stump and roots were still there. The 1700 loop had a site that also had a huge stump on the camping pad. We took some photos but I haven't a clue how to show them yet--I'll figure it out and get them posted some day!

The 1800 loop was closed when we checked in (Oct. 4th) and they had it blocked off and had lots of large equipment working in there. They had it open and almost totally full by the weekend, though. They are roofing the 1600/1800 comfort station and Pioneer Hall--don't know if that is routine or storm-related. They do seem to be using something other than wood shingles, though. Putting up lots of copper flashing, too. They were also working on the roof of the bus stop at 1600-1900. One bus stop in the cabin area was blocked off--you could tell where a tree had hit it and put a 'dip' in the roof! The covered bus stop at the Outpost area was also closed off and a temporary bus stop area was set up. No work was being done on it while we were there but it was REALLY blocked off--with fencing and tarps.

We drove through Orlando to check out our future neighborhood area and everything there seemed fine. We did notice lots of homes with tarps along the way, though. We didn't notice any problems with supplies of groceries or gas. The Hess station on Disney property actually had the cheapest gas we saw till Georgia!

That's all I can think of now--yell if you have any questions and have a super time!!!

Campingcorgi,

Glad your back and had a safe trip. Were you able to camp in the 1700 loop? That is what we requested, really enjoyed it last trip. We are anxious to leave and see all the damage.

Yes, we got a great site in 1700!

You will notice the billboard damage first--there was a lot of that on the way down!

I forgot to add that they have put stakes along the road at several sites in 1700 and one in 1600. They only thing I could think is that they are sites that could very easily be made into pull-through sites. Check them out and see what you think, We4. And I hope you have another great trip! Heck, I know you will cause you'll be at Fort Wilderness!!!

Glad to see you girls made it home safely! My parents asked if you had posted anything yet. My girls told me to send Lauren a message saying they are sorry that they did not get to say goodbye and hope to see you again in the near future. (I had no idea they were going to leave so early in the morning as they pulled out at 5:30 a.m.) I asked Logan what she wanted to do the other day and she informed me she wanted to see Lauren! Our next trip is suppose to be on Dec 26, but that has now been put on hold due to problems with my Dad's colonoscopy :( , so maybe we will meet again!!!! Tell Lauren the girls said hi!
