For Halloween, what are the alleged haunted places in Florida? I heard that the whole city of St. Augustine is haunted and a boy's reform school in Florida is, too.

St. Augustine does have lots of ghost tours.
I would stay away from the boys' reform school as there is a lot of alleged abuse, and possibly murder, that happened there. I doubt there is any kind of tour there and hanging around in hopes of experiencing some sort of ghost wouldn't be right.

When I went to St.Augustine I had to visit the lighthouse since it was on the show Ghost Hunters. After we went up and explored it I asked the attendant taking the tickets to enter the lighthouse if she saw the show and had experienced anything strange. At first she kinds just nodded that yes she had seen the show and that she had seen some weird things but all of a sudden she went off telling us like 6-7 different stories of ghostly activity she witnessed. She said right in front of the lighthouse she's always hearing children playing like right in front of her even though there's nobody there, also that the door lock to the lighthouse is always found unlocked even though it always gets locked up.I think she spent like ten minutes telling us stuff after we asked her.

hope it's ok to post this, if not let me know I'll delete it, but being Pirates of the Caribbean is on the list thought it was interesting!

Cool site. I'm from Gainesville and actually knew most about most of those. The Steak and Shake did get robbed and people were put into the freezer and the robber left them there. I don't recall anyone being killed though.

Also in Gainesville the Hippodrome Theater is haunted. I used to be part of the teen theater and it was creepy being in there. My mother was a costume designer and my step father was a set designer and we all had our own stories. Especially upstairs in the office and on the steps. Chilly spots, reports of images of a person, etc.

cool stories y'all.. I think it's all really awesome, personally though everyone thinks I'm crazy, I hope to see something everytime I get on Pirates, lol;)

I agree, stay away from the reform school and let the boys and families have peace. I wouldn't want that to turn into a "tourist halloween spot" as it seems disrespectful. There were terrible things that happened there. I understand most historical cities had terrible things, but those were cities, not a place for children! It is really sad. I do have a friend who is into "ghost hunting" on a scientific level and has all of the equipment, etc. He has a private club that goes out and performs tests. That is different, but since the OP mentioned halloween, that sounds like a touristy or "fun" thing they are looking for, not a scientific project.

:sad2:

Before it was so popular we talked to an attendant and she said the kids used to play "tap tap" with them. She said that had just done it the morning they were there. Look into the history. Two children drowned. They were the light keeper's daughters. We got two photos that are really scary. ONe was in the room as you walk in I think it is to the left. We took a photo of the glass case and then when we developed it we could see a man in one of those raincoat hats and a beard in the reflection. also when we took a photo at the bottom of the stairs, looking over the railing we could see a little girl( outline in gray) looking down from the top. It freaked us out but we really knew nothing about the activity at the time. when ghost hunters went there, they saw someone looking over the railing in the exact same spot. THAT really freaked us out because we were not influenced by them since we had been there long before that show.

We went last year and my son has the ghost finder ap on his phone. Now I thought this thing was a bunch of garbage until we had a friend pass away suddenly. we had it on and it said my friend's name and that he was with Eddy. My friend's wife and I were talking and I asked if her husband knew someone named Eddie thinking that was what the app was saying She said no, and I told what the ap had said. She flipped out because she said that was short for EDITH, his favorite aunt who had passed away. Now perhaps this was a coincidence but not to me. If you have a smart phone try putting the ghost app on it when you go.

We were down in the cellar and we had the app on and it would show that there were spirits in the hall between the two rooms. It would not go off in either room as we tested it several times. ONLY in the hallway. Come to find out that was another hot spot.
