The HM is scheduled to be closed for the summer. Is it just for general maintance or will there be additions/changes?

they are adding an animatronic Eddie Murphy to the ride.
He was in the Haunted Mansion movie and they are doing the same to him that they did to Johnny Depp over at POC.

there are threads on this. i've heard everything from retroactively adding a storyline like they did at disneyland including updating the leota effect (which is amazing at DL) and the new bride, etc., to redoing the exit/entry area completely (i've heard a gift shop to be added for example).

and then i've heard that budget cuts may prevent all that from happening.

i dunno. just search for the threads i guess.

at the least, they're supposed to be completely redoing the audio system.

and the movie was based on the phantom manor attraction, which has its own storyline that differs from the haunted mansion storyline, so there is no eddie murphy involved.

I think I read in Newsweek that due to the threat of terrorist activity and the Haunts do not have a passport or visa they are being sent to gitmo. The ghostbusters are being called in as we speak.

Of course I've waiting 30+ years to go to WDW to see HM and it will be closed when we go in June!

OK, all joking aside.... for those people who are new and don't realize that this horse has been beat to death and keeps resurrecting itself....

Yes, HM is closing at some point during the summer. Many people initially said it was all summer. When I checked the operating schedule myself about a week ago, it gave dates through August, but I only checked August because that's when I'm going. I did not check any of the other months. When I check the June operational updates today here is what it says:

The Haunted Mansion: Closed for Refurbishment [October 15, 2394 to November 8, 2394]

That's really useful information, isn't it? It also doesn't list the operating hours for any of the months. I guess they're updating.

So, basically, I have no idea Guess we'll find out when we get there.

I was there in January 07 and I thought they already did some refab to it. I thought it looked different. I said something to my husband when we were exiting the ride and a couple behind us said that they go to WDW all the time and that the ride was definetely different. I was confused to hear that they are doing another refab because I thought there was one already.

I think it needs some new changes its such a cool ride though!!

You didn't say when in June you are going, but I clicked on June 3rd on the calendar and it wasn't listed to be closed. You could check other dates. I also checked July 4th and it is listed there.

Something is going on with the calendar software, but if you click on the actual day it will show you the operating hours and ride closings.

Yeah, and it also says July 1 - 31, and August 1 - 31, and Sept. 1 - 12.

That's a long rehab. I bet when it reopens, it'll look just like new...er, I mean old.

To an earlier poster, yes, they did a significant rehab in 2005, but guess it needs more work. The infinity room, for one, was changed.
