Yes, it is back. It's in a different location. I'm not telling. ;) :goodvibes

HM is my favorite ride too. Have to ride at least once each and every time we go. It's become a sentimental place too -- DH proposed to me while we on the ride during the swinging wake scene. ;) I knew that ring was coming all day -- lunch at CRT, walking through the rose garden -- but he caught me off guard in my favorite spot in a ride.

Thanks for the heads up! I will have to pay closer attention when we got back in April. Since the Donald chair wasn't in its usual place, i really wasn't looking for it. Can't wait to go back, the haunted mansion will be our first stop!

 I drive a doombuggy everyday!

Gotta black Buick Rendezvous w/Haunted Mansion plate on the front (and silver glittery Mickey head handing from rv mirror.:teeth: Lots of people have come up to me in parking lots - seem to get a kick out of it.

Have started HM/disneyana collection too. My pride & joy is a large, glow-in-the dark snowgobe...DS's just hang their heads in shame.

I was going to get a doom buggy license plate at the Mickey Mart at downtown Disney, but it said DOOM BUGY, so I didn't buy it.

:bounce: I love The Haunted Mansion! I just rode it 3 days ago! A perfect Disney Classic! :hmghost:

I adore the HM. One of my favorite rides, and it's near and dear to my heart since my Dad used to love it so much.

One of my favs. The last time we went I managed to fin pins for the hitch hiking ghosts. They were only given to CM's

Screamscape is reporting that the Haunted Mansion may be going down for a lenghty refurb:

From Screamscape.com
Over the last 24 hours I’ve heard two sets of rumored plans for the proposed timeline to update and refurbish the Haunted Mansion. Our first rumor claims it will be done in two phases, the first one will close it for about two months from mid April to mid June to perform technical upgrades such as a replacement of the audio system and the load/unload platform areas. The ride would then close for a second phase of rehab for another 4-6 weeks from about mid August to late September where they will rehab the theatrical lighting, update effects and make a few scene changes like the seance room, the bride in the attic, new effects in the graveyard and more. So far we’re not sure where a new proposed covered queue or the planned exit area gift shop project fit in to this timeline however. Our second rumor however claims that the ride would close down on June 16th and likely remained closed for the entire summer and not reopen until late September which is about the same number of work weeks involved in our other rumor, but the more lengthy downtime would certainly make it a little easier to add something bigger like the new gift shop area.

We love the HM!!! Last trip we rode it a bunch of times. DH has issues with closed in spaces so we skip the stretching room. It's actually cool because we get to go "behind the scenes" and enter a different way.

I hope it is down down for a rehab when we are there in April. We would love to see Nightmare Before Xmas elements added to it though! That was a rumor, maybe it will happen!:confused3

Why on earth would they close down one of the most popular attractions during the height of the summer season? I guess they're Disney and can do what they want, but that doesn't make sense to me. Why not do it at a less busy time of year?

I remember the first time I went to MK, (waaaayyy back when ;) ) I had been looking forward to the HM for so long and we get there and - you guessed it - down for refurb :sad1: It was like the Griswold's arriving at Wallyworld

The attraction is in dire need of some TLC. It has been neglected long enough. I say close it down as long as it takes to get it up to par with DL's version which puts ours to shame.

Summer or not, just about everytime is busy so it really doesnt make too much of a difference.

I love the HM (can you tell??) but I agree it needs some TLC. I hope they DON'T make it a Nightmare Before Christmas thing permanently! (though Haunted Mansion Holiday would be nice!)

definitly one of my favorites. my first WDW memory is of HM. still to this\day i seem to always find something that i have never seen before.

a true Disney classic attraction

I love the HM too. My all time favorite. On this past trip during our 5th or 6th time riding, I noticed for the first time the "shadow" on the floor of the piano player as you you ride past the "self" playing piano in the hallway. Never noticed this before!
