Haunted mansion using magic bands

I JUST read this article that says RNR is also interactive with MB. http://wdwnt.com/blog/2016/04/photo...buts-new-interactive-hitchhiking-ghost-scene/

That's pretty cool! Love Haunted Mansion, can't wait to see the new endings when we go in September!

Just know they may not work.
We did
RnR on Saturday
HM on Sunday
Small World on Sunday

None of them had personalized features working

We even did stand by at RnR so it's not a matter of missing the area with the signs

I hope they get it all worked out by the time our trip comes along in September!

I went on a couple times last night (in the name of research of course)

The first time through, I got an old video but the cars around me all got new ones. Maybe it didn't catch my MagicBand? I don't know. But the second time through I got a new video, and it looked like every buggy around me did as well. It's a cool feature, with clearer graphics than before, and the facial scanning matched up much better.

I also finally got to see the Small World screen working after trying over 10 times since it launched. It actually scanned names by row which was pretty cool. One screen had the 3 people in front of my, one screen had just me, one had the couple behind me, etc. It was a nice, personal experience for a ride that holds a lot of people at once

Rode Expedition Everest on Tuesday. Our names were placed in the Advertisements on the wall in that last room before getting on the ride. Things like "Contact Expedition Guide Michael to make arrangements"
This is only on the stand by line I assume?

I was under the impression that when you give a name to be printed on the back of your MB, it's strictly for the purposes of identifying the MB, for instance if you have multiple bands or some persons in your party have the same colors. The scanners don't read that name, but the name on the MDX account to which the band is linked. But I saw at least one report of someone who got a phone call from Disney and was told they could not use the personalization name on their band because it was inappropriate. The reporter didn't say what the name was but did say they didn't think it was obscene. Why would that happen?

Those scanners would have to use the account name, because if you purchase a band at the park it just has a bunch of numbers on the back of it. Which is great if you are a stormtrooper but who else wants to be referred to by numbers? If it is the account name, you can go to the profile section and change the name on your account to have a nickname or whatever. So if you went in there and changed it to Darth Vader, the Small World screens would say "Hello Darth Vader" or whatever they say.

Yes, the scanners use your account name, not the personalized names written on the back (because as you said, not every band is personalized. 6 of my 7 aren't)

If you wanted to, you could change your name to Darth Vader and have that pop up. Reports from a completely unrelated thread said the names update overnightish, so if I change my name today, tomorrow it should reflect in the parks. It sounds like it could be a fun little experiment to see what gets populated in public and what doesn't

This discussion reminds me of seeing Blue Man Group in Chicago many years ago. As the audience is getting seated, waiting for the show to start, they have this scrolling marquee sign that says various things like "Please take your seats, the show will start in fifteen minutes." But it also said things like, "Mr. Chong in seat #420, this is a friendly reminder that your Visa payment is past due..."

DH and I rode HM today and my DH's birthday was yesterday. Our ghost whipped out two birthday cakes and dumped them over our heads!! It was sooooo awesome!!
I stopped to ask a CM at the exit if it was because his birthday was yesterday (DH was convinced it was a coincidence) and she said yes. She also said she had a couple that was at Disney celebrating an anniversary and they had something special happen. I THINK she said it was flowers?? She thought all celebrations were from people putting a celebration on the room notes but we are locals so it pulled his birthday from MDE not a room celebration note.

The one time we have been on Small World since it started the personalization did not work for us. We almost always ride HM when we go to MK so I am excited to see the other options!!

Not sure if this has been reported already but last night haunted mansion was using magic bands at the hitchhiking ghost ending to show people's names on tombstones.

The little scenes with the ghosts showing up in your doom buggie are different. We had one where a ghost held up a frame and put our faces on a portrait. People next to us had their names on tombstones.

Yes! We had both if those, then another time they were holding a sign that said something along the lines of "see you in Massachusetts! "
