Relax, it’s just a fan theory. :)

Here they’re talking about how French Quarter would be perfect and while I agree it would be, I’m not sure a lot of POFQ fans would like to see that change?

Technically the idea is based on Disneylands Haunted Mansion because it is set in New Orleans, not New York, like MK.

While I think it’d be cool, I also think that If such a fantasy were to be legitimately considered, it would scrapped. If nothing else than it would likely be a bit too edgy. In this vein, it seems plausible that on a daily basis, there would be at least 1 family checking in with kid(s) who become terrorized by the hotel. That could create a logistical nightmare, at least for the families.

Thematically it doesn't make sense because that would align with the exterior of the HM of DL. Fan theory or not..it would just be confusing for guests and break with the theming. It would have worked had the exterior of HM at WDW been like the one at DL.

I could see a dinner show as a possibility. SSR would be perfect as it is based on upstate NY and has the buildings or space for a new building as well as easy access from DS. Years back MK hosted a once a year event known as 999 haunts ball. There was also a few tickets that included a dinner in the ballroom of the haunted mansion Attraction. A perfect recycled theme…
I was at DW once when it was held sadly I could not get tickets. It was a truly limited well themed event. With that even this idea would be well beyond what Disney will do these days but if you find a Holiday inn that resembles something Disney may build it…..

While I like the idea, I doubt it would be indusive to sleeping unless they limited the scary noises. I saw there's a Haunted Mansion bar on one of the DCL cruise ships (Treasure?).

It's missing IP. You are aware that nowadays management prevent any hotel construction that doesn't have an IP that children love. (It used to allow IPs that adults love too, but after the so-called “Star Wars accident” that rule was overturned.)

I'm pretty sure Imagineering these days can come forward with something along the line of “A perfect match between a story everybody loves and heros of modern times. Tucked in the Victorian Era, dare to book your next magical vacation at the Haunted Doctor Strange Mansion. Indulge yourself in the Spiderman Lounge where specialty mocktails and cocktails will be served to you by robotic arms stretching from the ceiling of the room, billed at the outraging prices that we deserve. If you dare, book your stay at Floor 999, dedicated to Club-Level guests, bringing the next level of hospitality, and the exact same foods and drinks that you can find literally at every of the Club-Level lounges on property, because we're lazy and everything is standardized today.”

I’m not seeing it. Do kids freak out when they go on the HM ride??
When was the last time you saw a kid scared (terrorized) of the HM?

Why does it break the theming? French Quarter is New Orleans… same has the HM in DL. The video explains why it fits.

Because you're talking about a hotel in WDW with a Haunted Mansion attraction's exterior themed to completely different era.

So you'd have a hotel with the architecture of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion located right by a Hunted Mansion exterior that doesn't match that. Had WDW's Haunted Mansion exterior been the same as Disneyland OR the hotel in question was located in Disneyland resort property then the theming works although Disney is unlikely to want two things to be too similar (but that's a digression).

From your comments you were thinking only about the French Quarter aspect of the existing Port Orleans resort, I was talking about the fan theory/idea of putting specifically Haunted Mansion into.

I understand what you’re saying, but all that really is, is that one is closer than the other?
I’m not sure I see why that matters, the hotel would be themed after a different ride is all, not the one in MK. It’s not about physical location it’s about theme location New Orleans vs upstate New York.

From Disney's perspective? They've never liked having things that could be confused by guests, it's why you have characters that try not to be seen in two different places in the same park. At least if the exterior was the same theming it would be like "ride Haunted Mansion and now go stay where you might be that ghost they've been looking for ;) ;) " but having two different exteriors breaks that continuity within the same resort property.

From a guest's standpoint I think a lot of people would love a Haunted Mansion themed hotel but it would thematically work better if either that hotel was located in DL or if the WDW's ride version had the same exterior as Disneyland's.

I understood you from the get go, I disagreed with it, not the logic of French Quarter hotel with the same vibe as a Louisiana-Antebellum exterior of Haunted Mansion, but with the physical location being in FL with an existing Haunted Mansion attraction with a completely different exterior. I suppose the third option (a continuation of my second paragraph) is if DL's version didn't exist or WDW didn't have a HM attraction...but it does exist and WDW does have it.

Sorry it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it :upsidedow

I was always Very sad I missed the Star Wars resort, but the pricing was just too much. I truly believe they could have themed it without the whole interaction part (add a few characters for photos and kid interactions) and done fine.

I always thought someone could build a StarTrek, StarWars, Galaxy-something resort in Las Vegas and it would probably do well. Hilton once had a super cute StarTrek bar but never really promoted it, I knew big StarTrek fans that had no idea it was there until it got a lot of publicity when it was Closing :(

Where would you "put" a Haunted Mansion resort? Seems once you put it far away from that part of the park it would look odd. They did not even keep the look of the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney...

No, don’t be sorry, I get what you mean, going from HM in MK to a different HM universe is what breaks it.
It’s all just opinion and yours is as valid as anyone else’s including mine. :)

I just wasn’t thinking about going from one to the other and trying to connect them, which makes sense, but doesn’t have to be. I mean, we can walk through a 20’ tunnel and go from Adventureland to Frontierland (two different continents)

You mean like on a cruise ship? lol

Perhaps if they rethemed the rooms in one or two buildings, instead of the entire resort, similar to how they have two different types of themed buildings at POR already. They didn’t do much in the way of retheming the exterior of those buildings, just changed the furnishings inside. So go with the idea that there is a haunted section of Port Orleans, not specifically saying people are staying in THE Haunted Mansion.

But on the ships, I think they just need to theme a relatively tiny area, not the exterior facade, or match it to the neighborhood for continuity (both for the building itself, and to avoid destroying the ambiance of surrounding buildings for their specific themes)... I was always aware the Dolphin/Swan and Boardwalk/Beach Club sort of matched, and even the Poly and Grand Fl were careful to use reds and rooflines that complemented each other.

When was the last time you saw a kid scared (terrorized) of the HM?

You asked for input on something based on fantasy and I gave it.

Kids are fickle at times. Kids are unpredictable at times. Kids are scared of their closet and under the beds at times. Kids are scared of characters in costumes at times. Haven’t visualized it because it was in the dark, but last time we rode HM I heard a kid about 7 years old bawling his eyes out on the ride.
