The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides but my daughter is terrified of the room the shrinks at the beginning. She likes the rest. Is there any way to by pass that room? Would they let us somehow go straight to the ride? Of course we would stand in line until we get to the room. Thank you for your replys.

Could you just hold her close and have her close her eyes? That's what I do with our middle child. :)

Yes, you can skip the stretching room.

I have heard you can ask a CM and they will let you past it. I have never done it though and your mileage may vary.

When our kids were younger we used to skip it. We asked the CM and they led us through a few doors that took us right to the loading zone. It was really easy to do.

We took our 1 year old and the room didn't scare him it was everyone else screaming bloody murder in the room. We rode it again on our last day and he did perfectly fine because the group we had in the room didn't go crazy. But i didn't even know skipping that part was an option.

It's possible they may let you skip the stretch room, but from what I read here it doesn't always seem to be a sure thing, so I would have a backup plan in case you get up to the stretch room and they tell you you can't skip it.

What is it about the room that scares her? Is it the noise (when people sometimes scream when the lights go out)? If that, maybe have some headphones to dampen what she hears? Is it the lights going out/the darkness? Maybe she could wear a glow bracelet or necklace and focus on that when the lights go out (something that provides light enough to keep her calm, but it isn't bright enough to intrude on the experience of the other guests?

We skipped the stretching room! For different reason. It was pouring out and my daughter had a cast on her arm. She was terrified it would get wet and she was crying. The CM grabbed us and let us go in the handicap entrance. You bypass the stretching room and go on when the cars are unloading (I think that's how it went). I'm sure if you ask nicely, they will be able to help. Hope that works!

There is an alternate entrance if you ask the CM. They will take you back outside and around to the handicap entrance. The handicap entrance goes in through the exit of the ride.

Is there some reason wheelchair users cannot go into the stretch room? I don't quite remember the logistics of how it operates, but I don't think any stairs are involved.

I think it's due to space. The stretching room is very small and you have to stay away from the walls. Also, when you exit the stretching room, there are a few sharp turns that would be hard for a wheelchair or scooter to maneuver.

I can relate to your post. My son (ages 3-5 on our trips) has a hit or miss history with this ride and it's the stretching room that usually starts things down a bad path (crying, "I wanna get out of here," etc). He's a very emotionally stable kid and typically goes with the flow, but for some reason those few minutes in that room just don't work for him.

I counter by just keeping him close, holding him, having a toy, iPhone (at lowest light level) or something at the ready to distract him. I don't like to force a ride on my kids but I love HM and hate to skip it, call me selfish!

My husband uses an ECV and we always go in the stretching room. Wheelchair and ECV users enter and exit the stretching room after all of the other guests. The CM then escorts all of us to the handicapped entrance.

Thank you. I THOUGHT I saw ECVs and wheelchairs in there on a few occasions, but wasn't sure. So I suppose there is an option to bypass the stretch room for whatever reasons, but it IS accessible.

I think the part that would be very hard for a wheel chair or ecv is after the stretching room, where everyone funnels into single file. That is tough on foot, I couldn't imagine doing it with a wheel chair or ecv.

It's really pretty easy. You don't leave until the room is emptied then you are guided by a CM with a flashlight. You don't go to the same line as the others, but are taken to the exit where you park your ECV. You then walk to to the doom Buggys (not regular boarding area) and board. There is a CM with you the entire time. I'm sure there is a similar method for those who cannot transfer.

Don't do this with out a CM, but if you go to the exit, and walk up the pathway, until you see a sign that says "Cast Members Only", and go through a couple doors, a door opens up right next to the exit of the stretching room.

Looks like you've got your answer but just to hear it direct from a CM: once you have waited in line, a CM will open the front doors, ask that CM if you can "skip the stretch room" and you can state your reason if you would like. They will either lead you through a series of doors around to the load platform or have you wait on the side of the foyer while they load the stretch room and then take you around. Is not a problem. Happens every day

But why?

At Disneyland the floor actually drops and that's why you have to be away from the wall. But at WDW the upper section with the pictures moves up. Neither the floor nor the wall next to the guests move at all.

So why do they tell us to stand away from the wall?

I think it's because they were too cheap to record a new "ghost host" when they opened the ride at WDW and they just used the currently-existing Disneyland recording.

I think next time I'm going to lean against the wall. Fight the power! Stick it to The Man!!!!!1
