Haunted Mansion question

I think this is one you skip until she's older and ready for it.

I had to do it by myself (kids did something else with Dad) or skip it (if I went with just a kid) for many years before they were ready to do it again. It's one my DDs favorites now.

But why?

At Disneyland the floor actually drops and that's why you have to be away from the wall. But at WDW the upper section with the pictures moves up. Neither the floor nor the wall next to the guests move at all.

So why do they tell us to stand away from the wall?

I think it's because they were too cheap to record a new "ghost host" when they opened the ride at WDW and they just used the currently-existing Disneyland recording.

I think next time I'm going to lean against the wall. Fight the power! Stick it to The Man!!!!!1

It's so the CM can get from the entrance door to the exit door without pushing their way through the room and spoiling the effect for everyone.

The stretch room was the main reason my daughter hated the ride when she was younger. (Also a pretty strong fear of ghosts but people screaming in stretch room freaked her out). She now at least tolerates it and loves the ride. Never thought about skipping the room though. I would have been able to ride it more often if we could have skipped it. I only dragged her on once a trip even though it is a favorite of mine. Oh well at least she let me drag her on (same with ToT. She liked the drops but had that ghost fear and the hotel was so realistic it freaked her out.)

First of all, the Ghost Host track doesn't say anything about standing away from the walls.
It's the CM who does that.
The Ghost Host's only line about the entering the room says, "Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. Theres no turning back now..."

Secondly, they DID have to re-record (add and modify) a few things for the current WDW HM.
It is not in the stretching room, but in the Doombuggie boarding area.

Disney has a very gifted voice actor (Corey Burton) who can recreate the same kind of narration voice as the original, well-loved (and, sadly, long-departed) Ghost Host, Paul Frees.

You couldn't be more wrong. I will not explain to you why but you do need to be away from the walls. Also, if they were just "too cheap" to rerecord the spiel, why would the CMs also insist you step away from the walls?
