I hope this is the right forum for this...

My question is about the stretch room at the Haunted Mansion...Is there anyway to skip that part and go directly to the ride? My seven year old loves it and would want to go with DH, but I would like to go on it as well and will be wearing our baby...I would rather not have her experience that part as often time people scream pretty loud and it's a pretty small space...I don't think the ride itself will scare her, but I can see people screaming right next to her making her cry and it would be all downhill from there...

Obviously I will be skipping it if I can't skip the stretch room...

Does anyone know if there's a rider swap for that ride?

TIA

I don't know about the rider swap, but many people here have said that you can skip the stretching room. You just need to ask the cast member if you can. I've never done it, though.

I used to hold DS up against me and cover his ears with my hands since that part is so brief. He was a nervous toddler at the time but it worked well. I have since heard you can bypass the stretching room though so that would be even better.

I recommend if your baby is jumpy to get the headphones someone mentioned because that isn't the only confined place you need to wait at Disney and regardless of lights going out children scream everywhere.

I would also agree with the headphones. I'd also add your child may surprise you. I thought dd, now 3, would be scared by the stretch room for the same reasons..lights going out, loud screaming, etc...but she actually giggled in the stretch room instead. We just talked to her quietly through the stretch room, and she was fine. Now it was the holiday version at DLR, so it's a little different, but I was still amazed. We ended up taking her on it 3x because she was enjoying it :)

I'm not sure if you'd be able to skip and then wait for the rest of your party. Exiting the stretching room funnels people into a pretty tight area, and I don't know that I've ever seen anyone waiting there before (though there could be a special waiting area somewhere, I suppose).

My 7 year old has been going through the stretching room since I wore him as a baby and has never had any issues - and he was, and still is, overly sensitive. I just covered his ears when the Lightning flashes (which is when people tend to scream). I have to imagine a baby with an older sibling has heard louder noises before, lol!

You would think so, but we're actually a pretty quiet family...she haaaaates loud noises...sissy is pretty quiet. Good call though because it wouldn't be the first time one of my kids has zigged when I was sure they would zag :-)
