Haunted Mansion Portraits: Anyone do one?

This is one of the many reasons I love the DIS :disrocks:.

I would never have know about these if it weren't for you guys and now it has rocketed to the top of my list for an MK souvenir!

I'll be the (only) downer here and say its just not for me. I'll probably get flamed (oh, man!) but I've looked at them a few times now in Memento Mori and I know as soon as I get it home, I wouldn't put that thing up. Looking at it would absolutely freak me right out . . . especially at night. Also, think I'd be running to the mirror all the time and wondering OMG do I really look like that? LOL Maybe from that angle? Or the other? Eek. While this one is certainly unique, fun theme park portraits have been around for ages. I remember there used to be a studio in Universal . . . 12 plus years ago? . . . where you could don a costume and get your portrait taken. I remember they had gunslinger costumes complete with Old West saloon backdrops. Civil War era uniforms and gorgeous women's period gowns. My parents had their portrait taken in costume at a theme park. Maybe 30 plus years ago? It is still kicking around somewhere. If you have your heart set on it, then do it. And when you get home, buy a nice, (somewhat) gaudy ornate frame for it to add a little period flair. And enjoy it! If you can :-)

Years ago, there was a place you could dress up as pirates and wield swords and eye patches (close to PoTC). I think my parents still have that "family portrait" laying around somewhere.

I think the HM photos are cool but I wish they could do a family portrait. I am on the fence about it.

We did the whole period family photo thing in Dollywood (A.K.A. Silver Dollar City) in Tennessee many moons ago. It was a blast. I got to be a confederate officer and my wife and daughters were all dressed up like saloon girls. That's a fun family memory too.

I'm thrilled that Memento Mori even exists & that WDW is now offering unique, attraction specific merchandise. Everyone can have their own opinions/taste re a specific item, but I'm sure just about everyone agrees that this recent trend toward unique items is a huge plus. I was so tired of the rows of same old, same old ubiquitous plastic stuff.

My friends and I did one in March, we loved them!!! We were dressed up for Dapper Day and went really early before the heat got to us, we were really impressed, had them sent to the resort. I'm pretty sure I also got an AP discount so it was only about $17. Definitely worth it, super cool and unique.

Also they are printed in a de-saturated black and white. I was wearing a red white and blue bow and the colors are very faint, my skin tone is also still tan but very faint as well. You don't have a choice, they're all created the same.

My daughter did this last year after her BBB appointment. It turned out freakishly fantastic! Lol

Is there somewhere at the front of the park that you could drop this off and pick up when you're leaving? :hmghost:

to the people who have them- what do you do with them? Do you actually hang them up? Did you give them to ppl as {gag} gifts?

I will hang mine up for sure. You could always save it for a Halloween decoration? Absolutely agree about the ride specific and unique merchandise! I didn't buy myself anyhitng on the last two trips, this time I have a list

This will be a must do for my husband! So very excited to have seen this.
