Haunted Mansion Overlay Dates - affecting my trip dates?

Anyone know when they typically announce the dates they are doing this? I am going in late August. I had planned to do the last week of August but they started overlay in August last year and I am considering bumping the trip up one week.

(Honestly I'm not sure I should work around it or not. I've done Haunted Mansion at World and I hear they are comparable unlike for example POTC. So maybe I just shouldn't even be worrying about working around it anyway! Maybe I should just push into the last week of August hoping for lower school crowds like I'd originally planned)

Disneyland is always slow to release any information to the public. I would imagine you won't hear anything about halloween time until end of june. Going by previous years they always start the overlay the last monday of august, and need about three weeks to complete the overlay before Halloween time starts.

We were there from Aug 19-26 last year, we only got to go on it once, I think on the 19th before they closed it for the overlay.

I know it was still open on Aug 21st last year because I rode it that evening!

The planned first park day for us is August 22nd. (Monday) We arrive on the 20th. Gosh it's not a make or break trip attraction but it will be nagging at me till they announce it!!! I just don't think I want to bump my trip up any earlier in August.

August 22nd is the first day back for So Cal and So Cal Select APs. Expect that week to be extremely crowded.

In 2014 the overlay went up from 8/25-9/11. Last year it was 8/24-9/10. It's safe to assume the ride will close on 8/22 this year.

If it goes down on 8/22 maybe, just maybe we can catch a ride on it 9/9 our last day in the parks.

Thanks SMD. Do you think I'd be better crowd-wise going the week before? Then I would catch HM.

Just note that if you do get to ride it on the 9th, it will have the Nightmare Before Christmas Overlay in place.

I would love that figment! I've never experienced the overlay and I think my fiance would get a kick out of it.
