I didn't realize the special effects bands have been around so long. I've clearly been missing out on that.

That was exactly my thought when I saw the mickey turn green and purple on our trip! I asked the cm and she told me it was because of the guy’s band. I didn’t know I had been missing out either! We saw his band working at the FP line for Winnie the Pooh.

I have the HM band. It is a 45th anniversary Magic Kingdom band. It is purple and does different affects on the scanners. With that said it is not sold by Disney anymore as it likely sold out. eBay might have it though.

I am a magicband collector so I have roughly 20ish.

Do you know/remember if the HM 45th LE band does special effects lights and sounds at all tapstiles or only at certain ones?

It usually only works in MK at FP turnstiles.

My advice is to check out the link I posted above prior to buying a band. He has info on every band.

Not every limited edition band does a different color so you'll want to check before you shell out the $35 or however much the band is.

I want the Coco band which is pretty cool

I see this one that someone posted on ebay and DH LOVES everything about Haunted Mansion, so I'm tempted to buy it but have never seen this one elsewhere and wondering if its more of a "wrap" than a HM magicband.

I can't answer your question but I'm a big HM fan like your DH and I would love that band more than anything I've seen on Disney sites. I just checked the ShopDisneyParks app and ShopDisney.com and they have zero HM Magic Bands.

This design is from the on demand stations - its printed onto the band not a wrap. But there's no special effects or anything

We have the HM Magic Band, the Food and Wine Festival Band and the MNSSHP bands. They do not always give you the extra lights it seems but definitely if you say use the F&W Bands at Epcot during the festival you get them. It also comes with a sound effect which is a champagne cork popping. We have quite a few bands and my wife ordered a watch display stand off of Amazon to display them on. The HM band has the wallpaper from the ride on it. It's really fun to use them because a lot of CM's have never seen the displays before and ask us about them when we use them.

I think it is one of the 'On Demand' Magic Band designs.

The ones sold at WDW will work just like the other MBs, you're paying extra for the customization of your choice of artwork. The Ebay seller is likely just buying them at WDW and upping the price a bit. I'd sooner buy them at WDW.

ETA: From the above post--But there's no special effects or anything. I can't address this, when I say they'll work like the other MBs I'm speaking strictly of basic functions such as park admission, purchases, opening your on-site resort door, etc.

There are on-demand shops at each of the parks. The MK one is (I believe) in the Space Mountain area. Someone else may know the other locations, they might be listed on a Disney website somewhere. They're behind a counter in gift shops with usually a numerous choices on display.

Can i just show up with the new band and have everything transferred on to it there?
