Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlay...

I purposely do not visit the HM when "it" takes over! I cannot stand that nbc theming hijacking the classic HM! Christmas does not belong anywhere in Oct. much less Sept. that is just so disgusting and revolting to me! it completely assaults my senses, and I am not alone in expressing those sentiments, so therefore, anyone that enjoys that theming upon the HM, knock your selfs out! enjoy!

cannot stand it!!! blah! now, I am going to try to go back to nice thoughts! for my own peace of mind!

Why don't you tell us how you reeeeeeeeaaaalllly feel? ;)

I havent actually seen it with the overlay, so I can't compare. However I suppose if it were that bad and I felt so strongly about it, I just wouldnt go during that time. Don't you agree?:thumbsup2

I'm personally a LOVER of the overlay :) They did such a great job making it feel just like NBC. I can't wait to see it in two and a half weeks. EEEK !! I'm so stoked !!!!

I know, its getting so close!!

Im excited to see the overly, Ive heard both good and bad and Im a fan of the movie. :yay:

I cant imagine it being that bad.

That is why I don't, so far anyway, because I would love to see Dl. in person during the fall, especially for Halloween, and I actually may be able to accept the fact, that other than seeing the facade of the HM, I most likely will not do the ride thru, I already know what to expect either way, I can handle this choice, I think!
My most favorite rides are the POTC and the HM, so seeing how for @ 4 months out of the year, and a very important time frame as well, regarding holidays, that this change takes place for, if I was to visit Dl during that time frame, then I cannot enjoy this ride, and I miss out on it.

Really? You won't ride it at all with the overlay? Can I ask what it is about it that you don't like? :confused3 I havent seen it, so im curious.

Does the stretching room portion of the HM remain unchanged? That's my favorite part. The script for the ghost host during that part is an iconic part of the attraction.

In my opinion, the characters et al, which represent nbc, from a historical and aesthetic perspective have no place in, on, much less upon the classical Haunted Mansion, it is just so far out, what these nbc elements represent for the otherwise, 19 th century proper Louisiana plantation mansion. This juxtaposition, just so makes me feel most uneasy, and not in a good way either, it (nbc) so horribly clashes with this classic southern architecture and with its otherwise most atmospheric interior realm, that for me, this overlay represents a real insult, almost a kind of sacrilege, to my most beloved mansion.

Now tell us how stupid IASW christmas overlay? it changes the ride and there fore I do not like it.

ps I like it as well as NBC but it is a changes ride.

Can't wait! Can't wait! Can't wait!

We fly out tomorrow and booked these dates specifically for the HM overlay. I was a bit nervous that it might not open on time so I'm especially glad to hear that it's already open! I saw it 3 years ago when I went to CA on a business trip with my DH, but my kids have never seen it. DD16 is a HUGE NBC fan and I know she is going to love it.

As for the change itself, while I understand that it isn't to some people's liking I do have to say that they do an amazing job with the transformation. I was expecting a bit of a change and was blown away by how extensive the change is. It's like riding a completely different ride!

We watched the ride with the overlay on the new NBC disc that just came out. It was full of information about it. The idea behind this is to show what would happen if Jack Skellington came to visit the Haunted Mansion for Christmas. The DLR chefs actually make a real gingerbread house to go on the dining room table, and it is different every year. I hope we get to see it this year!

We have 6 teens and 3 adults who are all HUGE NBC fans and we picked this time of year specifically to visit our favorite ride during its holiday transformation.

We're getting excited!:yay:

OOoohh i'm so excitted..our trip is next week and i can't wait to go see it! :goodvibes

We're super excited to see it! This is our first Halloween visit to DL and just can't wait to see all the decorations. We're doing the Happiest Haunts Tour, so we will definitely be going on the HM :thumbsup2

i dont like the nbc overlay but ill still go on it my fav ride besieds pirates. but i wish they wouldnt chage it. they should just make a new ride for nbc

I agree, sorry but the nightmare before Christmas overlay is just not right...I cant put my finger on why I dislike it. It just doesn't feel right.

I understand the reasoning behind it but still if Jack wanted to come for Christmas why is he there for Halloween...lol

I like the original version. I'm not a big fan of NBC; kind of dark and twisty humor. That's ok, some people love "dark and twisty," and that's their groove- it takes all kinds, right?:thumbsup2

DD13, however, loves it. So I'll get dragged on it repeatedly whether I want to or not! :rotfl:

I personally LOVE the NBC theme. Its the only time I like to ride the Haunted Mansion because it lightens up the tone (no bride beheading her groom etc.. that just creeps me out).

The whole NBC theme is so well done and fun! We are going to try to get our new annual passes soon so we ca go down and see it.

Since the Haunted Mansion and NBC are both kind of creepy in the first place it just seems natural that you could combine them without it being too much a stretch.
