I've started to read WonderWomanDC's report, and I'm waiting happily to find out where the surprise reception was! I read hints about the Tower of Terror?

Anyway, I was wondering... is it possible to have events at the Haunted Mansion? And if so, how and where exactly? Is it more expensive??

And the Tower of Terror... where is the event?

Thank you!!! I'm looking forward to hearing about these creative ideas! :flower:

Unless it's been changed recently, no weddings are taking place in the Magic Kingdom. They used to, but aren't now.

There are events in the Huanted Mansion. I know each year for the Food and Wine festival, there is a big Halloween themed gala. The information and photos I found are located here: http://www.hauntedmansion.info/dinner.asp. The author has quite a harrowing tale of how he was hit in the head by a pumpkin by the Headless Horseman, too.

But, as someone else ahd said, they aren't doingmany private events in the Magic Kingdom becuase of the major celebrations.

xoxo

An event in the Haunted Mansion would have the same minimums for any MK reception....I think it's somewhere around $45,000. But, as the other posters have said, they're not currently doing events at the MK. I think they're going to start doing them again after the 50th anniversary celebration.

My SM said they are not doing any weddings at the moment due to the 50th celebrations and the changing park hours but she also said that is all up for review after the celebrations so you never know!

I think the price is about $45000!! lol!

$45,000! Wow! Good thing I was only curious! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info, I can DEFINITELY cross that OFF my list! :wave2:

LOL, I know what you mean. However, if you definitely want to get the Haunted Mansion involved, you can schedule an MK Bridal Shoot and ask to get some pics in front of it after you've done the Castle pics.

i just checked the disney weddings website and the new minimum for the castle wedding (when ever they do them) is now...

$52,000!!! Hmm thats my wedding budget twice over!

Yes, it is possible, but you will have to check with the Fairy Tale Weddings folks to see if it is possible for your time-frame.

The "Haunted Mansion" ride was an option for my vow renewal last year. However, since my husband and I had celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on the ballroom set of the "Haunted Mansion" movie (click here for photos and click here for my trip report), we decided a different venue was in order. I had wanted to use the "Tower of Terror" venue since I thought that was very appropriate for a couple of folks who had survived 20 years of up's & down's, but my husband wanted something different. He told me that if I wanted him to stick around for the next 20 years, I better select the "Great Movie Ride" venue. Boy, that was a tough choice, I tell ya, but I agreed to let him have his way for the first (and last time ;) ) in our marriage. The "Great Movie Ride" it was.

Disney has many wonderful venues for private parties. A lot of those venues are reasonable in price, but anything that is held inside a theme park is going to be more expensive since it must be held after-hours. Also please note that for a theme park event, there are specific rules & requirements that must be met. If you can live with Disney's rules (they are very reasonable), a theme park event is truly ~magical.~

The Haunted Mansion event is held after-hours inside the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. The event is held inside the Haunted Mansion ride. I should note that it has a size limitation. Forgive me for not remembering what it is exactly (30? 40? 50?). Depending upon your party's size, the dinner can be held inside the foyer and the stretching rooms. I have seen photos of a few events that have been held there. It looked like such a fun place for a party.

The Tower of Terror event is held after-hours inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. It is held on the grounds of the ride. When I looked into that venue for my vow renewal, I was told that my dinner party would be held outside in the courtyard. I inquired about holding the party inside, but I was told that I couldn't -- the reason given me was that Disney Imagineering did not want to have to prepare the venue for the next day's theme park guests (cleaning the venue, spraying new cobwebs, etc.). However, earlier this year I had been in contact with Disneyland since I was looking into holding a private event in California. Disneyland told me that holding an event inside their (Disneyland's) Tower of Terror was possible. That was the opposite of what Walt Disney World had told me. I am curious to see where WonderWomanDC's dinner was held.

I should note that after either a Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror event, your guests will get to ride the ride before the evening is through. What a fun experience!

For my Great Movie Ride event, an official ride was impossible since the ride vehicles had been removed to make way for tables & chairs, etc. However, during my event, the ride's audio-animatronics and soundtrack did play. My guests were able to experience the ride on foot as we moved from venue to venue (Gangster area for drinks, Western area for dinner, Land of Oz area for dessert, and Block Box area where Mickey Mouse greeted us and led everyone outdoors for our dance party). Not too many people can say that they have walked through the "Great Movie Ride." By the way, walking through the Alien area was especially fun late at night. ;)

I hope this information helped.

I did that for my MK Bridal Portrait Session: click here. My photographer did not want to take us over there. After being eaten alive by millions of mosquitoes, I can understand why.
