(yet another dooney & burke bag thread)

I'm confused. Did I break a rule? I did a search for a thread on this topic to share my results to a common problem. This was the only thread I found on the topic. What should I have done differently?

The only thing I'd suggest is perhaps posting on topics that don't pertain to attractions and strategies to enjoy them within a theme park at WDW in another forum, such as the Theme Parks Community forum, or the top-level Community Board.

In fact, if in-park merchandise becomes a popular topic, perhaps the moderators could create a forum specifically for discussions and news on theme park merchandise...
 
I just got off the phone with Disney and while they offered to replace it I told them I really just wanted to get merchandise credit. I got the shipping label to return it and will bring it to a UPS location shortly. It's really disappointing as this was a gift from DH, but I know he'd rather me get a new bag than let this sad bag sit in my closet for the next forever. At least I don't have to bring the bag with me to the parks to return it, which the person on the phone said they wouldn't be able to do anyways. She also said this was the first she heard of a problem with these bags when I told her I wasn't the only one having an issue with these darn things. I'm glad this is over with though. Well, I shouldn't say that so soon. I'll believe it when I have the merchandise credit in my hand.

You didn't break any rule the Pandora thread is here as well, as are the what's the current item with purchase threads. The moderators will let you know if there is a problem. Your thread topic was well stated, people can just move to the next thread. It's very easy to follow threads now that interest you with the new board design. The watch thread button is in the top right corner.

I'm happy to see the thread here. I don't visit the other forums - and I considered buying one of these bags, and was thankfully dissuaded by the thread about them. An update about the current situation is helpful.

Some people just take a weird ownership of these forums and what should or shouldn't be discussed (and how often). Don't worry about it.
 
I wanted to share my nightmare trying to return my poor quality Haunted Mansion Dooney & Bourke Bag. I tried Dooney & Bourke, I sent in my bag into them for repair/replacement. I was told they couldn't repair/replace it and that I should return it to the Disney Store for full refund (Dooney won't even return my emails anymore about refund for shipment). I emailed Disney Store about it and they told me to return it to the parks. I went to the parks and they told me to call Guest Services. I talked to Guest Services yesterday and they told me too bad so sad, it's past 30 days and to try and call Dooney to get them to return it.

I don't know where to go from here anymore. I am so upset and angry both of these companies would do this. This bag is a lot of money so it shouldn't be falling apart, Dooney says they guarantee their bags for 1 year, but obviously not. Anyone have suggestions?

Wow! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I just wanted to know where the original thread was. I didn't get to read about the problems you had with it. :sad2:

My wife bought the D&B HM "Smith" bag in April when we visited WDW, what should she be looking at for signs of problems?

I remember reading when they first came out the red lining was a problem, but hers has purple lining. She's going to be heartbroken if something happens to this bag, we're heading back in 2 weeks (the April trip was cut short due to an emergency) so if it's something we should take care of while we're in the World it would be good to know now.
 
Wow - not having a trip I've not been frequenting the boards in recent months. So sorry to hear everyone had such problem with these bags! I wasn't able to get one, but loved the idea and found someone on Etsy who made me a fabulous HM wallpaper fabric/black leather tote for $40 and it's held up very well with some heavy use...guess I made out well after all. I hope you all get your replacement bags and that they are of real D&B quality!

I think I may be one of the few who hasn't had any issues. I bought my Smith bag in October last year, and used it daily (and not exactly gently) all winter with zero issues. It does seem to be mostly the other smaller bags that are having problems, based on the old thread. I think any problems would be quite noticeable - especially at this price point, I know I was pretty paranoid about checking for any possible flaking or anything like that even before I knew there were some known issues!
 
I called D&B on Friday and my replacement bag will be coming the 30th. I saw people posting that the new HM bags with leather corners are in the parks, hopefully this means it will be easier for others to replace theirs.
 
After a month and about 9 days, I have finally received the replacement bag today. I hope this encourages anyone that is going through the same thing I went through. Keep calling/emailing/posting!
