Has anbody toured the Haunted Mansion Ball room Set at MGM? I read about it in the newest Disney Magazine. How was it?

I did tour it in October and really enjoyed it. You are taken through with a group, watch a short film of the director explaining the movie and the set, then you get a brief amount of time to walk around and look at the set and displays on the walls. Not really long enough to look for my taste, but I still enjoyed it.

We just saw it last week and it was pretty cool. But, as the other poster said, you don't get a lot of time to look around and you can't take pictures.

we saw it too last week. i liked it but again, i wish they didn't shove us out the door so fast.

the haunted mansion is my favorite ride in mk, and i must say the preview really sparked my interest in the movie, we plan on going to see it on friday!

btw: i bought this book while in wdw and loved it: The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies by Jason Surrell

We saw this last week..... here's my advice:

When you enter the "ballroom", move all the way to the right and during the time that the CM is speaking, take this time to look at the set (but do listen to what the CM is saying).... definitely watch the film presentation.... then, when the CM says take a few moments to look around.... immediately walk over to the left side (toward the very back of the group) and leisurely look at those items as everyone exits, then you'll have a nice view of the front of the room.....

We mistakenly thought that when the CM said "take a few moments to look around.... those moments would begin after he was FINISHED speaking..... turned out that when he finished speaking, we were sent packing.

Hope this helps! :sunny:

thanks for the hints even though I am sure to forget them once I get there!

My oldest (6 year old) DD is really excited to visit the Haunted Mansion ride...as am I, but I'll have to stay with the little ones and won't ride without DH's arms to grab onto. :)

Will the tour be too scary for little ones? We have a four year old and two year old as well who scare easily...but I'd love to see the set :)

While the set was interesting, I was disappointed that you only go into one large room that is packed with people. See a short film and then get about a minute to look around. I'm glad I went, but I wouldn't take the time to go again. I think small kids would be very disappointed in this one. I say go if the CM says that the next shoing is in a few minutes, but I wouldn't wait a real long time for this one.

As for kids being scared on the set, you are bascially in a warehouse with the set lined up against the wall. They are more likely to be bored than scared with the set.

Seeing the set spark my interested in seeing the movie although it is getting terrible reviews

We just happened to be walking by when they ushered us in. It was interesting but I wouldn't want to wait too long in line. Later in the day there was a huge line-up. If my kids would have been with us they would have been bored and whiney.

I wasn't very impressed with the Haunted Mansion set. We had to wait several minutes to be crowded into a small hallway where we couldn't see anything, the CM wasn't talking loud, so we couldn't hear either.

When we finally got to see the exhibit portion, I was underimpressed, and bored.

I adore the Haunted Mansion ride, but the exhibit left a lot to be desired. IMO, not worth the time spent waiting.

DITTO to what julfre has to say....
We would not waste our time to see it again.
The film they show...is the same thing we have since seen on the Disney Channel to promote the film.

IMHO the set is the highlight of the movie.:(
