Haunted Mansion Advice

When my kids were 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 we couldn't get my son (3 1/2) past the turnstyle. Just the building and the CMs spooked him. At "just" 5, we got him in, the holding room spooked him, he almost bailed, but made it through. Both he and my daughter ("just" 4) throught the graveyard spooky. At 6 and 7 they both still cover their eyes through the graveyard.

I think it just depends on the child. I tried to tell mine that it was all in fun, but still my almost 3yo and my 7yo hated it. I don't think they would ever get on it again. On the other hand, my 6yo nephew, who was with us, loved it. He even teases my older son still about how he was a scaredy cat.

My girls have all loved it, and they have been on it at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. My only advice, is in the stretching room, I kneel down at my girls level, and right before they turn off the lights we close our eyes. I know that is the only part that would scare them, and so far that has worked well for us. They love the ride, and try to scare the ghosts (by yelling at them...boo!!), and they LOVE the hitchiking ghost part!
Good Luck

My dd saw one of the Disney sing-along videos at a friends home. HM was on it and she liked the video portion. We rode it when she was four and she kept her eyes covered most of the time. We did get her go look at the ghost that hitches a ride with us at the end. We went back just after she turned 6. She rode it again. I think it would have been okay this time, except the ride stopped right near a scene where gobblins were popping out of tombstones. She was not pleased.

I think it depends on the child. She was nervous about everything. I made her get on Pooh, It's a Small World, Peter Pan. Because she couldn't see the ride, she was afraid to go on. She loved all of them, however.

Have a great trip.

we went a few months ago with DS's 5 & 2 years old. 5 year old was terrified and cried throughout the whole ride, 2 year old loved it. :confused3

This won't help once you are on the ride, but if your child gets freaked out by the introduction, there is a door you can exit prior to getting on the doom buggy. My kids went on it when they were 4,2,2 and then again when they were 6,4,4. This last trip the kids were 7,5,5 and 9 months. One of the 5 year olds was scared to death from the introduction (the stretching room), so we exited on the way to the doom buggy. Tell them they can change thier minds and at least have them try the intro.

I agree with so many others - it really depends on your child - my 6 year old wouln't go on it - not for love or money.

My (just turned) 5 year old went but was not happy about it once we got on --- which surprised me - she is my thrill seeker and I thought she would be fine and seemed to be until we got on the doom buggys

Now when we talk about going back - my oldest really wants to go and the younger one says NO WAY!!

I took my son on it when he was 2 and all we did was buy him the Buzz sucker spinning thing and it sucked/played with that the entire time and didn't notive a thing!
