Haunted Mansion 2009

The anniversary would be Oct. 22, for the 15th Anniversary (ask me how I know hahaha!), which would possibly work with the schedule of having approx. a month to celebrate the HM 40th Anniversary and then the HMH would go down early October, to open for the 22nd, would be a possibility.

If they were smart they should offer a NBC Anniversary party and get double the crazy fans haha!

I still wish I could do the HM event, but its way too close to my due date :(

I doubt Disneyland is going to celebrate NBC movie or have any event. It would be nice but with two HM events already - it seems unlikely.
I think Haunted Mansion Holiday will return in November when it a small world holiday returns. This being the 40th anniversary of the attraction on August 9and events on August 9 and September 9 -- it is doubtful the Mansion will be shut down in September for installation of the holiday overlay. I suspect the regular Haunted Mansion will run thruough October 31 and then shut down for two weeks in early November for the holiday overlay.
I like HMH. But it would be nice to experience the original Haunted Mansion during the fall and Halloween time since the overlay does have Christmas themes with Halloween.

I did not pay over $400.00 to see hmh on 9-9-9 thank you.
You all can say whatever you feel like, and try to validate anything that your little hearts desire. Just as I can. I am sick to death of this subject. Go and enjoy nbc. I hate it, I always have and always will. I can post and post until my fingers fall off, but for you die hards, none of you will ever understand a thing that I write, nor care to. So feel free to say as it were, whatever you all wish to. I am sick of this subject. Not that I will not continue to say what I think.
Frankly, I think it is time to give this forum a rest, for myself. None of the time that I spend on line, pays any bills of mine.

Forgot to add: (Oh my!)

I know very well that from Oct. through the end of Dec. not to mention NYE and day as well, the park is very busy with holiday visitors. It is not a "slow season"

Now I am just anxious to find out once and for all whether there will be a HMH in 2009 or not, just for curiosity's sake and to decide if a Halloweentime trip is in the cards for me in 2009. I wonder how soon the Cast Members find out about the schedule for the overlay or if it is not going up at all.

I so agree, I hate for all those people trying to set up their fall vacations being disapointed no matter what happens.

BTW I dount Disney knows what they are going to do yet, haha! But that might come from all the confusing refurb info. on the Disneyland site lately :lmao:

I know!:rotfl2: Here I am thinking DLR has a master plan, they have the HMH plan all mapped out months and months in advance, when in reality they probably won't even decide until Summer or something!!

WOW! Gisele neither fairycat nor myself are trying to change your mind. We BOTH said that in our posts. And I said that this is probably the only place we would never agree. I don't think your reaction here is warranted sweetie. This is a good discussion, it's enlightening and it's fun. NO ONE is saying anything bad to you, about you or about the original HM. We are just discussing. I will enjoy NBC, you can hate it all you want. Just because we don't agree on this subject doesn't change the fact that I think of you as a friend. And this forum doesn't pay any of our bills (if it does for someone please tell me how! LOL) but we still come because we are friends and we share a common love for DL. If you need to take a break fine, do so, we will all be here when you come back! :grouphug:

BTW, we will miss you while you are gone. :guilty:  ::yes::

when my bff and I took a trip last year (first-second week of september) there was a little confusion about the Haunted Mansion...first they said it would be closed, then it said it would NOT be closed (yay!!!) and then...we found out for sure it would be closed.:sad1: The trip was amazing, but I whined on and off the whole trip about the Manse. *sigh* I've never done HMH before, and I think I would be fine with it, but if/WHEN we go again (probably same time this year), I would be thrilled if it were open at all! (though I would prefer the original version, since my friend hasn't seen it before!) So, when I heard about 9/9/9, I was excited, since that means that the original version should be up at least until then...right? Right? ;) I mean, it wouldn't make sense if they're doing all this promotion all year and releasing all the pins, etc, and then have it closed at all...Right?
haha...Wow, what a long paragraph about a hypothetical situation. Only here, the DIS boards, do people truly understand the time and deep thought that goes in to such planning. :scratchin
hehe.

Last year, the "official" Halloweentime season at DLR began on Friday, September 26th. In 2007, it began on Friday, Spetember 21st. It lasts all the way through Halloween and into the first day or two of November, I think, but IF the Haunted Mansion Holiday goes up this year, that will last all the way into January of 2010. As far as I know, the Trick or Treat Party (held in California Adventure on certain nights after California Adventure closes) usually does not begin until October. Last year we went to the TOTP on Friday, October 3rd, which, I believe, was the first night of it for 2008. Keep asking around on the DISboards about the turkey! Everyone is so helpful and knows so much, that I am SURE there is someone out there who can tell you where to get a cooked turkey near DLR!! Maybe there is a Honeybaked nearby???

Oh my!!!! Trick or Treat nights???? WHAT IS THAT!! Do you need to dress up? How much is it?
OH WOW! Wait till I tell the kids!

Wow...well anyway this topic was started just out of curiosity. I wasn't wanting any arguments over the HMH or anything. So lets just HUG!!

Mickey's Trick or Treat Party (MToT) is at Disney's California Adventure several nights in October. It's a fun night with Halloween festivities, decor, etc at DCA. People get dressed up (not required), enjoy rides, games, etc. Throughout DCA there are trick or treat stations set up where you can go up (with your goodie bag) and get candy. If you have patience for the lines, you can end up with LOTS of candy. Oh, and Mickey, Minnie, etc are out and about in Halloween costumes taking pictures throughout the night.

Last year tickets were $29 pre-sale, $37 at the door. On selected nights, APs could get discounted tickets for $25.

If you search on line, you will find many, many pictures.

Well here is my .2c.
I love the NBC overlay. But by the time the 13th box has opened at the front of the DoomBuggie line right around Nov 1st?, I am just about sick to death :crazy2: of ol Jack.:rotfl2:
I suppose it is because we go so often, that I have the luxury of getting sick of a ride. :lmao: I can see how if one were to plan a trip coming from afar,(anything that includes a long long :drive: car ride, or plane ride) and not being interested in seeing the NBC HMH overlay, it could be a disappointment if that is your only option.
I am right now:hyper: counting down:hourglass the days till we get to go see the original HM.

Disney Dreams already explained most of it, but I will add this in. Lots of people dress up but there are LOTS of people who don't dress up in costume at all, so you wouldn't stick out like a sort thumb either way. You can't go into DL with your costume on, though. It is only allowed for the TOTP. The treat stations are numerous. We got there right when the TOTP started, which was 7:30 at night on 10/3, and at that point, the lines for the treat stations were not bad, so we got most of our treats in the first 15 minutes. Of course, as the night progresses, more people discover the stations and the long lines form. But there are LOTS of stations all over DCA - some which are really easy to find and some which are hard to find. They give you a plastic bag with handles at the entrance, so you don't have to worry about buying one.....but if you want to buy one, I did see a couple of shops that sold cute Trick or Treat bags in DCA. There is no shortage of cute Halloween merchandise, some of which is ONLY sold at the Trick or Treat Party. Most of it is sold during the day around both parks, through the whole Halloween season, but they do bring out some exclusive stuff just for the party.

Between when DCA shuts down for the day and when they open up the TOTP, they do a mini-transformation of DCA, and stick some extra decorations up that you cannot see during the day, especially around the entrance. There are giant Mickey ghosts here and there. There is a jack-o-lantern projected onto the California Screamin' ride (though I don't know what they will do with that this year) and special Halloween PhotoPass locations/opportunities set up - with and without characters. We got pictures with Woody and Jack Sparrow, but there were all kinds of villains out and about too. It is a very lively party. There is music and dancing. Many of the rides are open during the party, too. There are LOTS of people milling about, because it is only held on certain nights through October so everyone crams in. But it's fun. You should definitely try it once - especially if you have kids.

Disney Dreams is right, there are lots of Trick or Treat pictures around online and on this board. I have a few pictures of it in my Trip Report, along with my rundown of the TOTP from this past October 3rd. If you want to check it out, the link to the Trip Report is in my signature below.
