Could somebody give me some info on this please? Has anybody ever rented one of these rooms? $585 seems like a lot of money just to get the [CENSORED] scared out of you.:D

From what I heard it includes a meal at Emerils, Tix to HHN and a visit from the Caretaker...The rooms are limited which would explain the price hike...I think there are only a few rooms that are themed that way...

This was news to me! Thanks for posting. I looked it up and this is what I found.

It is called The Eternal Rest stayover package. Offered at Hard Rock Hotel during HHN.

Universal Orlando's Hard Rock Hotel is taking the haunted house concept one step further:

Universal Orlando's Hard Rock Hotel will bring to life (or death as the case might be) beginning October 4 as part of the resort's renowned Halloween Horror Nights, every traveler's worst nightmare: a room from Hell.

....There will be skeletons in the closet. Literally. And things people have never seen, even at the most suspect roadside motel. Each evening, guests trapped in the room will experience various surprises beginning with someone evil entering the room (no, not unexpected maid service) and ending in total chaos -- including breaking mirrors and a bed that seems possessed.

Special touches in the room include coffins, body parts stuffed in drawers, skeletons, tombstones and even blood-red shower water.

Though Hard Rock's management has taken every opportunity to protect anyone who has purchased the "Eternal Rest Package" -- including a 24-hour on- call contact -- guests will be asked to sign a waiver -- absolving the hotel of any responsibility for what harm may come to pass during the night.

"This really will be unbelievably terrifying," said Carrier. "Though it's all in good fun, the line between realism and special effects will definitely be blurred. I expect many requests for an express early checkout."

The price is $585. Now that's really scary.

I'm not sure I want my sleep quite that "interactive."

One more review from my newspaper, Newsday.

IT'S DARK, SOMBER,

SCARY - AND COSTLY

The hotel room is advertised as dark and somber with cobwebs on the draperies, a few body parts in bureau drawers and creepy sounds like loud screams, babies crying and heavy breathing.

Sound inviting? Enticing enough to spend $585 per night of horror for two adults in a "guaranteed haunted" hotel room? Children 12 or older are also invited. "But it might be too spooky for younger children," said a spokesman for Universal Orlando.

With Halloween approaching, the Florida theme park's "creative team" - bent on out-Disneying Disney - claims to have developed the first intensely haunted hotel room, with the aid of video projections and other technological advancements in the Hard Rock Hotel.

"They've pulled out all the stops," the spokesman said, including awakening guests at 2:45 a.m., when the room becomes colder, strange music plays and objects start moving around.

If this isn't punishment enough, the "Eternal Rest" stay-over package also includes entry to the "Islands of Adventure" theme park during Halloween Horror Nights Oct. 10-13, 16-20, 23-27 and Oct. 29-Nov. 2. Call, if you dare, 877-2FRIGHT.

All that, and a 2:45 AM wake-up?! It'd have to be Elvira with my milk & cookies at that price!
I'd love to read the trip report from this promo though.

Too funny, Jim! I bet you could request her at that price;)

That sounds unbelievably fantastic!! Not sure how the guest (not to mention the "behind the scenes crew") would ever get any sleep... Or maybe that's the point...

Letting my imagination go (and in trying to justify why they would charge that much), I'm merely guessing that besides all the hours of preparation, timing, and round the clock work that would have to go into pulling off something like that, they prolly have to use the rooms on either side as well... So perhaps the $585 a night has a certain justification to it? (Not that I would pay it)...

Heck, I'd love to just watch them get the room prepared, and do the effects... Listening in the dark somewhere for a scream or two... Unless of course they'd let me help!!

Gosh, I'm not even going to do it and I'm all excited about the concept!
:jester:

This is the first I've heard of this, they didn't promo this too much.
At first I thought it too expensive. But if it includes tix to hhn and dinner at Emeril's it's not too bad. I'd like to hear a review if anyone does this!

I would love to see that room! Thanks

nwo_thunder, have you put that video up somewhere yet? I'm looking forward to seeing this thing.

Mike, have you gotten around to putting the video up yet? I joined the group, but don't see the video there. My curiosity is definitely piqued!
