I've read several posts that people would never stay here.
I've stayed here 5 times. And here is why:

  • I've never once felt unsafe.
  • It's a 15 minute walk away, or there is an ART pick up 1/2 block away.
  • It's only (usually) around $60/night which enables me to either have another trip to DL, or spend more money in the parks on food and souvenirs
  • I like scratchy towels :-)
  • There is a fridge and a microwave
  • The pool is okay; the hot tub is questionable, but I haven't gotten swimmers itch or been impregnated yet
  • They always make our beds cute and arrange the stuffed animals, fold blankets that the kids have brought
  • They printed my tickets with no issues or hassle
  • Ask for an updated room. This time the bathroom was very nice. I like the plantation blinds and floors
  • Flat screen tv (not that we have time to watch it)
  • FREEEEE parking. Plus they don't mind if you leave your car there past check in hours.
Yes, this hotel is very run down and the outlets suck. I've traveled to shmancy fancy places and to third world countries. I know I'm going to get some flack, but this hotel would be on the fancy list in many countries.

Really...to each their own!! Some people always find a reason to complain or not like something, I have really never heard of it but we usually try and stay closer so that is probably why and for 60/nights shouldn't be a lot for anyone to complain about.

True. Reminds me of my then 10 year old nephew. I was talking to him about visiting DL with me and he asked me about the amenities where I book. Lol.
That was the term he used. Is it possible to turn into a bit of a hotel snob at such a young age? Lmao

It's probably much easier to be a hotel snob when you don't have to worry about pesky details like the cost. ;)

Seems this could have been titled something like "I really like Alamo Inn" rather than expecting people to hate it?

Why would anyone feel unsafe walking from a hotel at Katella right near Disneyland Drive? I don't get it. We've stayed at Anabella a few times and apart from the World's Longest Crosswalk (probably not but it feels like it) there's nothing unsafe there. It's just down the street from PPH and the Grand.

Gisele, using the word "amenities" just means he's using the proper word. Doesn't necessarily mean he's a snob. But yes, kids at 10 can have feelings and likes and dislikes even about things like hotels.

Haha, I know I didn't know the word 'amenities' at age ten!! Sounds like he's already done some traveling with family who value the finer things in life...

Its cool type of off-the-grid style hotel. Has the location and amenities for those looking just for a place to crash after DL or extending their vacay a day or two.

Why would you get flack for expressing your opinion about something you like, or are satisfied with? Not everyone wants to stay in high-end places, and not everyone wants to save their money for experiences rather than lodging - it's just opinions, and I don't think one is better than the other.

Thanks for sharing your own experience at the Alamo for anyone who's interested in staying there.

Just having free parking tells me a lot about the character of the hotel. To me it means they aren't nickle and diming you for every little thing.

Just knowing of the people that were attacked there is enough to make me not want to go there. But that is true about any business where I know someone I care about has been a victim of violence. Regardless of "upscale vs economy"

I've read many negative comments, but hadn't seen any positive ones. I guess that's why I expected flack.

Appreciate you posting your positive comment. We need a balance when reviewing so people can weigh the pros and cons. Thank you for posting your experience. It helps. :)

How do you rate the noise at this hotel? We had the experience at one of the hotels on Harbor with it being really noisy late at night when people were returning to their rooms. It didn't help that a lot of the people were overly noisy, but we haven't experienced this with hotels that have inside corridors. We don't generally look for fancy places; just somewhere that is clean, quiet and where you can park your car without issue. Thanks very much for your feedback.
