Speaking of that, my FIL is heavy and has a few medical conditions. He got a scooter to get around and has special boarding passes on Southwest to get on first.

My wife and I with two kids under 10 refused to "cut the line" or anything when traveling with him. I have no issues with him needing the assistance, but I be darned if my family is jumping ahead of others due to it.

It makes me feel very awkward doing that, and to be honest, WE don't need it, just him. We are not sitting with him on the plane, my MIL. At Disney, we can catch up at the end of the show/ride and move to the next one. He has no problem waiting for us as he people watches. So I do get P.O'ed when one ECV person has a train of 10 in tow.

Just because you don't want to sit with your family doesn't mean that other's shouldn't.:confused3 Frankly, what is the purpose of traveling with people if you don't share in the fun? My mom isn't about to be left alone, and I'm not dividing our family. Disney says 5 or 6 people so that families can enjoy their time together. That is one of the reasons we love disney. :cloud9: Anyone silly enough to be po'd is looking for trouble.

I was in a foul mood this morning and felt like posting bad things -- I held off though and I'm feeling MUCH better now. :cool1:

I agree with you I think that is a very reasonable number of people. 10 or 15 or 20, not so much ;)

I agree...if someone TRULY needs assistance due to health I see no problem with their family being with them. One of the main points we vacation together is to have the time together.....that could be waiting online or having dinner together.

I do have an issue with people that abuse the scooter policy. Last week I was watching a young women that was driving to each country and shopping until she dropped! Could there have been a hidden condition? Of course but I can't believe in all cases. She used her "little car" as my nephew called it to hold her purchases.....not nice.

:) I agree.

Frankly, I dread having to deal with the whole ecv issue while we are there. I think that is why i get testy when this issue and nasty (not you) people start posting about people who can walk, etc. We stopped using the busses because they were such a hassle. But if we want her along (which we do!) this is the way we must deal with it. Luckily she is a good driver!

I've run into hateful posts on this board, especially on the resorts and travel type boards, since the beginning. Cyberidiots truly believe that they can insult, go after and verbally abuse people under the guise of protecting the reputation of a PARK...:confused3. I swear, I never will and never intend to understand that.

Loyalty to a place will always astound me, especially to the point of being evil to a fellow human being. I stay away from those boards for that reason specifically.

As for the group of get a life rude people, that's why there is an IGNORE feature. :lmao: And, yes, the mods know about them but just like the punk kids at school, they love just riling the powers that be just enough to get by with it, and getting around the ban feature. They actually consider it a badge of honor, like some juvies consider jailtime. Consider the source.

Just to play devil's advocate for a minute (and I reeealy don't want to bring up another ECV issue), my dad is going to have to use one on our next trip because he's having back surgery. Why should he have to sit by himself in the shows or on a bus? Why shouldn't we be able to enjoy things as a family the way we always have? Are we somehow less worthy because we have a person in an ECV?

I'm not pointing at you, Mayl, that's just something I've always wondered about when people complain about wheelchair or ECV people traveling with parties.

And quite frankly it just plain stinks that families like yours have to feel this way when YOU are the ones that should be using the EVCs and whatever "benifit" if you can call it that considering you have a family member that cant be without it.

Its just a plain shame that people have the nerve to abuse something like this, I have always said that bad things will eventually come to people that do. They should all thank God for their health and ability to walk. I can see how this sure is a lose /lose situation though.

One of my good friends had quadruple bipass surgery when she was 21 years old, has a handicapped placard for a long while after surgery, the comments she would get walking away from her vehicle were just cruel, cause she didnt "look" like she needed it. I have always remembered that into my adult life and to never judge a person in an ECV.

Well there is a party, 5 or 6 people and a PARTY 10-15, why should 10 or 15 healthy people cut infront of tired and elderly folks that have waited and waited in a line and jump on a bus, fill it and refuse to get up for the elderly or very young?

To be upset because a small group are staying with an ECV is silly to me, a MOB however is rediculous. They cant possibly be close enough to the person in the EVC to be sharing any special moments with them

That's a good point. 10 or 15 is a little nuts. I don't think I've ever seen a group that big. I'm trying to remember...

I had not either till this last trip!:lmao:

They almost did not make it off the bus alive! people were POed to say the least. Not that they cared one bit. People that do stuff like that never do!

Disney considers a 'party' to be up to 6 people - 5 plus the person with a disability. I'm not saying there could not be a bigger party, but that is what they give as a 'party' size and that is the most I have seen.

The threads making fun of people in chairs are the ones I find most distasteful.

I really wish that the people who do the making fun would spend JUST ONE DAY at Disney in one of those things and see how much they and their family enjoy it. Of course, they'd never make it through an entire day. They can't even stand being temporarily inconvenienced by the chair...a whole day? :rotfl: They'd never make it.

The reality is that many folks see thing differently, or have had real life experiences of a different sort. Now the "tone" of the post might not be the greatest, but the minute the OP does not get silly smiley face icons and group hugs, people assume they are getting bashed. They don't want to even think about another point of view or that they might be wrong.
That's the truth. And if you don't kiss butt and actually give an opinion contrary to what the OP may want to hear you get points. Even if your stating the obvious. And you can't complain to the powers to be because they've taken you p.m. privileges away.
