OK, less than 10 minutes into this weeks podcast we have more Hate Speech. Imagine those young wippersnappers joking that grandparents would break their hip riding Segways. As a grandparent myself I resemble that remark. :rotfl:

Seriously folks, there is no reason that a grandparent can't do the Segway tour. My wife and I did it in May without any problem.
:teacher:

Especially if those grandparents are from the south, they might be younger than the podcasters. My aunt was a grandmother at 38 :scared1:

You'll notice I suggested she give the prize to her grandparents - it was the other ageists on the roundtable that made fun if it....:rotfl2:

Yes, I did notice that!

Now, can we get some discussion of food in this thread? popcorn::

Yeah, I think the old cliche of "grandma this" and "grandma that" should be switched out for "great grandma" because 50 is like the new 12.

I've done the Epcot Segway tour twice, and both times there were folks on it that definitely appeared to qualify for Medicare.

More power to them! :)

We did the Segway tour and, though we're in our 40s, felt like a couple of kids. Most of the tour was made up of folks who appeared to be our parents' ages.

Funny, we're giving the tour to our daughter & partner for their next trip. So, the 40-somethings will have some company then.

My husband and I have been Medicare age for longer than I can believe and we did the Epcot Segway last November and are doing the Fort Wilderness one this coming Thursday- Had an initial fear we would look foolish, but caught on faster than many of the "youth" and had a blast. So granny and grampy- have that youngun offer up that Segway tour for you.:dance3:

haven't heard it yet but hey I was made a GM at 40 :goodvibes she is 11 mos now :goodvibes , I sure can
ride a segway. I am waiting for DD to turn 16 though, then we are sooo gonna do it

I'm 54, grandmother to 5 and Dh and I have done the Epcot Segway Tour and the Fort Wilderness Segway Tour. Loved both tours!

No need for you to feel sorry- we were just having fun with the Podcast crew (minus John of course) in making those "old" jokes. We try to never pass up an opportunity to poke fun at them or give them a hard time.:rolleyes1
