Hatbox ghost video

Is this ghost #1000? Doesn't that kind of mess up part of the storyline?
I don't know what your asking? Disneyland originally had this effect in 1969. The effect was iffy and never seemed to work how WDI wanted it too. So now in 2015 with the advanced tech it finally works beautifully.

He's pretty cool, but I have never heard people screaming like that in any of the Haunted Mansions. Were they just excited over the new ghost?

Yes the lines for haunted mansion in Disneyland yesterday reached almost an hour. This was all due to Hatbox hype.

My understanding the original version was also made for WDW's HM for when it opened. However that they just decided to not even install.

The technology for this just looks like a more advanced version of what they have used since the 60s for the singing busts and Leota head. Nevertheless it would be cool to modernize the entire grave yard scene with this technology on all the animatronic ghosts in that scene.

It sure is funny how people get all worked up over the smallest things. I've been hearing about the Hatbox Ghost for months - and that's it?

I think mouseguy77 was referring to the script in the Haunted Mansion's music room and staircase and commenting if the hatbox ghost makes for 1000 happy haunts. The script says : "They have all, retired here to the Haunted Mansion, actually we have 999 happy haunts here, but there's room for one thousand. Any volunteers?? If you should decide to join us, final arrangements, may be made at the end of the tour."

Well as someone pointed out I would believe he was included in that 999 because he was there previously.

Hope the hatbox ghost eventually makes it over to the Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion!

I wonder why they didn't go ahead and put the computer animated hitchiking ghosts from WDW in when they added the Hatbox ghost.

Because that's not part of their storyline. Disneyland HM is much short and actually isn't as well maintained as WDWs. They both have differences and should be kept that way. That's why there is debate now on whether hatbox ghost should come to WDW or not.

I'm pretty sure it isn't much of a debate and it is more a question of when do they plan to install one in the Magic Kingdom's HM.

There actually is some debate because it wasn't originally intended for WDW. It was in disneyland in 1969. Reports say that one was built for WDW but never installed. WDW opened in 1971. Disneyland has had a love fest with hatbox ghost for years, WDW not so much. with that said I think it eventually will come to WDW.

True, but I think we're probably going to get it.What makes me think so is 1) Marni said they had been doing basic infrastructure work to see where it would go a couple years back 2) Phil Holmes will only ever update Haunted Mansion

If anyone in disney management in Orlando needs to go it's Phil. Doesn't like refurbs for anything except for HM of course. MK needs a all around person that wants a pristine park.
