Our next disney trip will be our daughters 1st disney trip for her 5th birthday. We want to plan a couple days @ US and plan to stay on site there then move to disney. US is a must for our 12 yo boys we are thinking 2 maybe 3 days at US - is that enough to see most of the big attractions? We figure staying on site with the early hour and FOTL pass we should be able to see a lot

When will you be going?

But if you have Expres Pass and the hour extra then I agree with damo 3 days minimum.

Have a look at the website www.universalorlando.com

It will give you all the rides and you can see what rides and shows your family will enjoy. Kong will open this summer too.

We have done 2 days and 3 days.
Sometimes they have promos where the 3rd day is free or not much more than a 2 day pass. So if you have the 3rd day at little or no cost (at least for the theme park tickets), that allows for a more relaxed pace the other days.

On our first US trip, we got there early afternoon on a Wednesday and left late afternoon on Saturday. So about 4 days/3 nights. We got everything done, some multiple times, so I'd say that was a touch too long for us. We now think 3 days is perfect and dedicate one full day to each park, with the third day re-visiting our favorite attractions at each. However, if you plan to stay onsite, all the onsite pools are awesome so might be good to build in pool time as well.

Looking at ypour ticker it got me wondering if you were asking for that trip in over 2 years ?

If so, quite a few things will have changed
New rides, new water park and who knows what else will be added

Currently, I'd say 3 days is a minimum. But with what's to come ... I might change my minimums to 4 days
The hardest part is that disney will also have new things by then, and it will imply making hard decisions ;)

If you're planning for this year, then 3 days will be nice

It depends on a lot of things. Normally, I'd say a minimum of 2 but 3 is better. However, if you're talking about going to Disney for several days and doing Universal and you have a 5 year old with you, then you need to keep that mind too. In this case, it would depends on how many Disney days you have planned as well. And, unless you homeschool, I'm guessing the school calendar may be an issue limiting how many total park days you have as well.
