Any suggestions from DISers on which MCO car rental agencies are the most hassle-free? I'm wanting to be able to walk up to the counter with my online reservation and walk away with no fuss, no upselling or fighting over price, and be sitting in my car ASAP.

Yelp has pretty crappy reviews for all but the higher-end business oriented companies that are charging $500+ a week for a compact, so I'm concerned with the situation there.

Absolutely love Alamo!
No hassles and no hard upsells.
I think it helps that I am an insider and have my preferences listed.
I also always have paperwork in hand, and I tell them straight up; no insurance, no upgrades, and I will fill the gas myself.
I also love walking to the garage and picking the car I want.

Tried Enterprise one time and did not like them.
Not helpful at counter or in garage, and tried to ding me for previous damage they already knew about and had documented on my contract when I took the car.

The last 2 trips we used National booking with the KLM discount code. Went straight to the garage, picked a car, and left.

Several companies don't require you to go to the desk if you've joined their rental clubs and have pre-entered driver's license and credit card info.

Alamo does this. On our last trip we went straight to the garage and picked out a car. Very easy!

Looks like I'll be stalking Alamo for discounts. I like the idea of going straight to the car. How does that work? I haven't rented a car before so I'm not familiar with the process. Do you just walk up to a car and flag someone to authorize you to leave?

Even easier. You go to the appropriate aisle, choose a vehicle, drive to the checkout booth.

We used to rent with Avis for years but had problems with them during our last few trips. Went with National for our last trip to WDW in April and we're so glad we did! Signed up with the Emerald Club and just picked our car and left, no stopping at the desk. Highly recommend.

When is your trip? The best rates/deals on rental cars are usually found a month or so before your travel dates.
