Has your work made plans to deal w/ H1N1 outbreak amongst employee's?

We started talks today and plan to have a concrete plan by Monday on how to handle a large outbreak amongst employees. We are a health clinic and cannot close.

We just began talking today. Though one thing became clear--- even if an employee is almost out of sick time (w/ it being the end of the year) they are to stay home if they exhibit symptoms and be reassured it will be w/o the usual repercussions (write up or dismissal for a chronic offender).

Just wondering if anyone elses employer is making plans for employees?

We are in the same boat you are.

Our plans are to wing it, though. Two of us have already had it. And we are well cross trained. If it hit everyone at once, though, we would have issues.

We all went to the same party for Christmas one year and all got food poisoning...it was not a good thing. This would be similar, I would think.

We also work with cancer patients - so coming to work with fever is a big no-no. They enforce that! But we always enforce that!

Fortunately we can work remotely via VPN, so our group manager has said if you have even a hint of being under the weather please work from home. And of course if you have a fever then call in sick and get some rest.

Our plan was me showing up with a can of Lysol disinfecting spray today. I have never seen my boss' face light up so quickly. The daughter of one of my coworkers was diagnosed a couple of days ago and he was advised to stay home for at least a couple of days. We also have bottles of Purell everywhere.

We just sent home a note to our preschool parents from the district nurse. It was very specific about what to watch for and when to keep your child home. Our staff is being extra-vigilent about watching for signs of illness in our students. Our class is special-ed and most of our kids don't have the language skills to tell us they feel sick so we have to keep our eyes open. If a child seems sick, we're taking them to the health office immediately to be evaluated by the nurse. If we notice a child is starting to cough or sneeze frequently, we tell the parent at pick-up time to please watch for illness in case they're getting sick. Our little kids seem to get sick within hours. They might seem fine when they leave home but three hours later they're visabily sick so we give the parents a heads-up about whatever we see.

Haha... yeah right, I wish.

My companies plan? "Don't get the Swine Flu."

Do we work together????? ha-ha

No flu plan in place at work. I imagine all of us and our families will get the flu throughout this flu season. I sterilize my workplace every morning and throughout the day (I've seen people use my phone when I am not at my work area!). My hand sanitizer is prominently displayed.

I'm impressed by PPs employers' policies.

We must all work together. No one at work has even mentioned anything about this at all. Myself and DD were diagnosed on Friday with a mild case. Could I go back tomorrow? Sure. Should I? Absolutely not. However, if I don't, they will hold it against me. We only get 7 sick days, when this all started last school year, DD had a fever off and on for about a week, and school policy was no fever for 48 hours. Guess when it was gone. Yep, on Friday. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I applaud-and am slightly jealous!-of everyone who's employer has thought ahead, and who can work from home!!

If I *think* I'm coming down with something I should work from home. Thank you broadband! If we have actual flu symptoms stay away from work! If it truly becomes a pandemic we have a break glass plan that has one third working from home, another third coming to the office and the last group working from a disaster recovery site.

A flu, presumably H1N1 since the seasonal flu hasn't started yet, ripped through a couple of floors of our building. It was spooky quiet over there. That's what prompted keep youself at home, dammit!

Lots of Purell everywhere.

At my Dh's office if you test positive (or probable) for type A or H1N1 you get 10 days at home paid and it does not come out of your sick days. He works for a very large company.... small businesses would not be able to do this IMHO.
