Hi. I went to Disney Store today and was talking to the CM and I told her that my 5 year old daughter and I were going in November. She said that her daughter dresses as a princess when they go down there, all day long. I saw a princess dress and it was almost 35.00. I would love for her to meet Snow White and the other princesses, but I don't know if I want to pay that much-yes I am cheap in some aspects, but I would rather spend 35.00 on a character meal, and I don't know if she would just want to wear it for a little while, then I would have to carry it around in a backpack. Any thoughts out there? Any advice? Thanks.

You just have to know your own child I think. My god-daughter had her own money when we went when she was 5. She used her own money to buy the $35 Sleeping Beauty dress (the pink one). She wore it ALL DAY both at the Magic Kingdom and again at MGM. At the MK I also bought her a tiara, which she wore all day. The day at MGM she found this pink headband with two bouncy things on springs that were covered in fur/fuzz, and wore that with the dress. She did wear her tennis shoes with the dress.

She LOVED it. She was a star. A little girl about 3 years old even asked for her autograph! Which she gave her! We ate at Cinderella's castle and she was a hit. Everywhere all the CMs addressed her as "Sleeping Beauty" or "Princess Aurora." They said things like "we loved your movie" or "loved you in the parade today." She asked me, "do they REALLY think I'm Sleeping Beauty?"

I knew she would wear it, so we went for it. Don't know if we would have bought it otherwise. But it made for GREAT memories and pictures!

Thanks for your reply. Ok, I won't be so cheap. Tomorrow the Disney Store is going to have a shipment come in of a couple different princess dresses, so I think I will go back and have her pick one out. I just want her to have the best time that she can possibly have.

We took our 6 year old daughter, Emily to Epcot on her birthday for breakfast with the princesses. She wore her Tinkerbell dress. A castmember asked for her autograph. Emily whispered to me "but I don't know how to spell Tinkerbell." I told her it was all right and just to write "Emily". She loved the attention.

Then we had her photo taken (while wearing the dress) and scaned into a photo with all of the other princesses. This is in the photo shop as you exit the Figment ride. It was our favorite souviner!

ReneeQ is right...you have to know your child. Some love to dress up and some would want to take it off ASAP! You might want to take a change of clothes too. You might want to avoid spills while eating or if the weather is too hot she would be uncomfortable.

You aren't cheap...you have to be thrifty these days. I bought Emily's Tinkerbell dress at the outlet store for $20. I bought her a Snow White dress right after Halloween for $10.

Start hitting the garage sales if you aren't going for a while. My mom buys princess dresses all the time for her grandkids. very cheap this way. If you don't end up finding one you can always pay retail at the Disney Store. Ebay is another great option.

Just a thought...

Since you are going in November why not just wait till after Halloween and get a costume of the Princess kind and she could wear that.

The Disney Store this year had fabulous ones and after halloween it's really cheap.

Just my 2 cents:D

My daughter wore a Jasmine costume to the park on her bday. During the MK parade when Aladdin went by he blew her a kiss and then one of the characters in the parade took her along the route with them for a while.

Princess costume:$35.00
Kiss from Aladdin: PRICELESS!!

check out ebay! There is a sleeping beauty dress I'd like to suprise my dd3 with and I believe you can get it for 15$

My sister found a costume dress at a yard sale for 50 cents and my dd just had to wear it. At MK the first CM we saw bowed to her and said"your majesty, is there anything I can do for you?" and when we were getting Cruella DeVille's autograph she told my dd "I know someone who'se looking for you, and she's not very happy. But we both know who is the fairest of them all!!!! It is ME!! and she gave a wicked laugh..... My dd loved the attention.
Price of the dress nothing... my sister paid for it and the look on my dd's face priceless.....

dressed as Minnie and had a blast with it. The Cast Members all made a big deal over her as it seems that not that many do the Minnie dress-up. And of course, Minnie herself made a big production over it.

The costume would have to be comfortable and cool but I would encourage it as it made our trip even more special!

My daughter dressed for the CRT breakfast as S. Beauty. She got lots of attention and people bowing and the whole bit. Afterwards, I changed her into "park clothes" and it didn't even cross my mind to let her wear it all day....but then we saw several girls that kept theirs on and I was "the bad guy" for having changed her clothes!! This year, she is wearing Cinderella to the CRT and is planning to wear it all day. Now she has decided that she will wear her S.B. (barely even fits!) to the Norway PSB and then wear it all day!! Oh well, whatever makes the magic for her!! Have a great trip.

Hi! As others have suggested - Ebay is a great place to check. I've gotten 2 princess dresses off of Ebay, and the dresses at the Disney Store will go on sale close/after Halloween - we got my DD4 her Cinderella dress for WDW that way last year. If you do get one now - keep the tags on the dress and hold on to the receipt - if you get lucky and get another gown for cheaper just return your first dress! Have fun!!

I would be the other extreme from cheap. I am probably way too indulgent with my DD 7 years old. When we went when she was 6 I did not know about the character breakfast thing. When we went when this last june at 7 she already had her snow white outfit from halloween...before we even got there she wanted a "genuine" cinderella outfit" replete with glass slippers!! I searched in vain. I was able to get reservations at at cinerellas royal table, and the other princess breakfast and the cinderella 1900 parkfare dinner. SO we get to disneyworld and there in the fantasia shop is the cinderella outfit with the "glass" slippers... SO we got it... my kid knows when I am in a buying mood...so my 7 year old DD says... "you know dad... that Jamine dress is like impossible to find in Montrose....I mean ... no one ever has that outfit...SO we got that too!! Oh and she also came with a Ariel costume her mom made for her... so then

first night she wore her Ariel outfit to Epcot to watch the fireworks... I carried her most of the time because its hard to walk in a fish outfit!! She loved it.. kids were pointing fingers saying "mommy mommy look its Ariel!!!!"

Then two days later we dressed up in the Cinderella outfit...with white gloves and all... she was loving life... high as a kite!! we got out of breakfast and she did not want to take it off... CMs were frequently saying "good morning princess", "why dinderella you look just splendid today" etc etc...about three hours later she finally changed because "I don't want to get this wet dad" and we put her outfit into a locker at the front entrance.

Then she wore the jasmine outfit with puffy little Jasmine shoes/slippers to the Princess breakfast over at Norway in Epcot... again she was high as a kite...same thing when we left except this time she did not take it off (much lighter outfit except the black wig)... when we left that day kids were ecstatic.... "DAD!!!! MOM!!!!! its Jasmine !!!!" very cute... and same as one of the other disbaord members... my daughter turned to me and aid..."do you think they really think I'm Jasmine?" super cute...

so yeah - was it worth it? for sure - did I spoil the crap out of my kid? yeah for sure... did it cost me too much money? yes in a material sense it did... but in the sense of giving her serious memories that may last a lifetime...and gave daddy staggeringly adorable pictures that I can grin at till I am an old fart?... well ... I could not have paid enough for those...I get all mushy just thinking about it.

oh and by the way if anyone wants I can e-mail a picture of my daughter in her Cinderella outfit, doing a semi courtsey with the grown up cinderella at the CRT breakfast. I am way proud of those pictures...
