Has Wolfgang Puck Express Changed for the Worse?

Wolfgang Puck Express's new menu is much smaller than before (flatbreads, pastas, rotisserie chicken and the incredible sour cream coleslaw are all gone!)

The Rusty Scupper has confirmed that the ownership has changed and thus, the quality has declined. Can anyone share their recent experiences here with the new menu?

We got back less than a week ago and the *only* regret my DH has expressed about the vacation is that we only got to eat there twice (once for breakfast and once for dinner), because we absolutely loved it. All four things we ordered were just great.

We'd never been there before, though.

We returned a week ago and we have not noticed a menu change compared to last year.
The servers go above and beyond, helped with selections, made sure we could all sit together (8 of us) and even refill your glasses.
There were the same flatbreads, pasta and rotisserie chicken on the menu we had over the last 4 years.
The food was wonderful as always and they still serve the BEST creme brulee on property!

Are you looking at the right menu. Wolfgangs actually have two QS restaurants in DTD. One is right beside earl of sandwich and the other is in the marketplace. The marketplace one does have a very small menu. But the other one still looks the same as it did when were where there in Aug 2008.

Based on my experience there August 30, yes, they've declined.

I remember crisp and tasty chicken pizzas from way back (I haven't eaten there in at least a couple of years). The barbecue chicken pizza, while it tasted okay, was soggy, and the chicken pieces dry and chewy. It didn't taste like Puck's chicken pizza. The creme brulee was pretty good but I had a much better one at Flying Fish that night. My friend had a caesar salad and had a problem with their using iceberg lettuce - apparently they used some romaine but the majority was iceberg. The sandwiches my other friends had looked good.

The WPE near the Earl of Sandwich is in the Marketplace. The second outlet is in West Side, in the same building as Wolfgang Puck Cafe. The one I reported on was the Marketplace one.

All Wolfgang Puck's establishments at Downtown Disney are apparently now owned by Levy Restaurants, including the Express outlets. They also own Fultons Crab House.

Which WGP Express is the one everyone says is so good? I thought it was the Marketplace one.

We usually go to the one on Marketplace and have yet to be disappointed. Over our 4 week stay we at least ate there once a week and EVERYTHING was delicious! :goodvibes

Thanks, that is the one that is more convient for us as we will be doing some shopping at the Marketplace.

The Marketplace outlet is larger and has a lot more seating.

This has been the case for quite some time, it's not a new development. I want to say they (Levy) took over in late 2003/early 2004. Levy also owns Portobello.

So wolf gang puck Is no more??,i was planing on going to his cooking demo In Oct at DTD.If his restraunts are no more then how can he cook there?

His name is on the door. His name is what brings people in (the first time, anyway). Why wouldn't they want him to make appearances?

I don't know if Levy has majority ownership or simply has a managing contract with an ownership percentage. I tend to think it's the latter.

Janice...YES, you are so right, I was looking at the wrong menu! WOW, and I thought I was an expert! The one by Earl of Sandwich does still have everything.

I officially retract my question! :rotfl:Thank you, now I'm happy! But thank you, TDC Nala and everyone else, for your reviews-I'll report back after our trip which begins in 6 days!

Wow... I was getting nervous... I have told me DSis how great this place is and I would have been disappointed if the menu changed... we are eating there 3 weeks from today!!!

I do like the food at WPE BUT their creme brulee is made from a mix not real ingredients. I have allergies and I've seen the box. It's ok but not like the real thing served at WDW restaurants. The pizza quality seems to vary (maybe it's humidity or oven temp?) but the pastas, salads, and rotiss chicken seem to always taste as they should.

Forgive me, but I am confused. Isn't the one by Earl of Sandwich the Marketplace one, and the other one the West Side one? I leave on Friday and was planning to go straight to WPE for my first meal. Which one should I go to?
Thanks.

The Marketplace (by Earl of Sandwich) is the one to go to. It has the larger menu. I'm so sorry to have caused such confusion! Hope you enjoy!
