Has WDW been de-Stitched?

Someone mentioned you could hear stich hiding near the castle? I am pretty much indifferenced to Stich but my best friend thinks he is the best disney character and would love to hear it. Can someone tell me where?

I'll admit that I am NOT a Stitch lover, but he did have his place when the movie first came out...and I'll even give him his place when his attraction opened. But that's a been there, done that moment now. And while the character has enjoyed success, he seems to be a love him or hate him character. And I just don't think it's wise to continue plastering him everywhere when people are pretty divided about his likability. It's MUCH better to play it safe and to go with characters that are more "people pleasing" (for lack of a better term).

I cant seem to hear the audio that was linked and where can you hear him in the bathrooms? That's too funny. He was still doing the wake up calls when I was there in June

I thought I had just heard on a podcast that Stitch was removed from the monorail speil and Pirate stuff had been added. I will try to remember which one it was and look it up to verify.

the pirates would be fun! pirate:

I don't have a problem with a little Stitch here and there, but I think it's gotten to be a bit too much. I don't mind the small monorail spiel, but I like the idea of changing it with each new attraction rather than leaving it as Stitch. The Pirates spiel is a great idea. I will say that I can't stand the Stitch wake up call--bring back just Mickey! I want to get "up and at 'em" again!

I think Stitch is so cute. I loved the monorail thing.
We watched Lilo and Stitch again on The Disney Channel yesterday. He's just too cute.

Now princesses and all that girly girl stuff? Blech.

ETA: I think Stitch is Disney, but never considered Pooh and friends to be Disney yet they are everywhere.

Thank you for posting this. One of my HUGE pet peeves is the proliferation of Pooh in the parks and it isn't a Disney creation.

I don't mean to :stir: but if Pooh characters are not Disney characters, then what are? I don't necessarily disagree that Pooh is sort of overdone at the parks, but although the characters are based on the Milne stories, all the recent Pooh movies and even the way they are drawn (I believe) is a product of the Disney company. I mean, the Little Mermaid story was written by Hans Christian Anderson, The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander, Beauty and the Beast is an old fairy tale and Disney's version owes a debt of gratitude to the novel Beauty by Robin McKinley. Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Peter Pan, etc. etc. are all based on works created by other people that have been Disney-fied. What then are real Disney characters? Mickey and the gang for sure...beyond that it starts to get a bit gray.
Stitch, since it was an original story out of WD Studios in some ways has more of a claim to WDW than any of the princesses.
PS I like them all...I'm just curious to hear why people think Pooh is not Disney while (Cindy, Belle, Peter Pan, fill in the blank) is. :goodvibes

I am not sure how to explain my feelings on this, but here goes:

The Pooh characters were very well developed before Disney got involved with them. The characters were developed and they had a certain "look" to them. Disney took that "look" and Disney-fied it into the characters most of us associate with today. Yes, in recent years Disney has made their own stories with these characters, but in the beginning they were based on the Milne concepts.

As for the movies (like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and other Fairy Tale based stories) I have an easier time accepting these as Disney because there was no uniform look to the characters or even to the story lines (in most cases). Disney took a central tale that had many variations and evolved it into a feature length movie by adding characters and creating a "world" for them to live in, so to speak. This was basically already done by Milne in his books, Disney just basically needed to draw his vision, they didn't need to create anything.

I agree with your argument to a point...however I think that their are shades of gray between the black and white. While the other stories were not soley created by Disney, I think Disney created enough story elaborations and ancillary characters to take most of the credit for their vision. I don't think this is the case with the Pooh characters.

I was there a week ago (July 19-26) and Stitch was still on the monorails, interrupting the monorail spiel, doing the wake-up call, and appearing on quite a few pins where the other characters looked scared to death of him, etc, etc. (Also- Stitch as Steamboat Willie? No thanks!)

I know I'm in the minority, but I do not care for Stitch. I don't get the appeal and I don't understand why he is everywhere nearly five years after his debut. I feel like it is overkill. It is just too much and seems tired to me.

I think that, if anything, Disney should be pushing Pirates right now with the release of the movie and updated ride.

I really wanted the traditional Mickey wake-up call! However, if Johnny Depp recorded a new wake-up call as Capt. Jack Sparrow, I just might be okay with it. ;)

Right ON! :lovestruc

I've also fallen deeply in love with monorail voice guy over the years and am not crazy about Stitch interrupting my time with him.

Oh man I hope that Stitch will be gone by the time I get there in January. He should be, right? That would be a little overkill otherwise. Well, than again, Stitch all over the monorail is overkill IMO. I guess I'm not a huge Stitch fan.

Let us hope so. Sorry, but I hardly find anything enduring about a character who's single redeeming value to society is "chili burps".

No offense to Stitch fans, to each their own, but yech... ;)

Amen to that. DITCH Stich!!! :stir:

I think that after four succesful movies and a Disney Channel series, they could do something nicer than Stitch's Great Escape...

That is a good point and very puzzling?

I can just hear the execs, "Hey I know. Instead of using a character from one of our popular successful movies let's use one that was a mediocre hit (at best)."

Makes no sense? :stir:

Awww ... I kind of like Stitch too. I really enjoyed the link. Somehow either he got talked over or we were talking or something so I never really heard what he said! Cute! Anyway, I probably will like the next thing that replaces Stitch too. PS - Don't hate me but I like the Stitch attraction too. :teeth:

That sound clip was great! :rotfl2: Thanks for posting, it made me laugh but at the same time made me kinda sad since I'm not there to ride the monorail myself!

I'd like a personal wake up call from Johnny Dep, can a girl get some pixie dust like that?

Personally, I love Stitch and the monorail spiel... the pins where he is taking the places of the others though are little bit of stitch overkill, I think... what next, stitch climb up the side of the castle??

aww i love Stitch! when i was there last year he was still on the monorail to MK. i never got a wakeup call from him tho. only Mickey.
