Hey gang. A neighbor of mine hit me with this question. She went to WDW in 1990 and is asking if the vilalge where Mickey and Minnie's houses are has always been Toon Town? Were they ever there under a different name like, Mickey's Village or anything. Its always been Toon Town right?

I found this on Wikipedia...

The Magic Kingdom

At the Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Toontown Fair initially opened as Mickey's Birthdayland on June 18, 1988. It became Mickey's Starland on May 26, 1990, and received its current name in 1996. Its storyline portrays the land as the holiday home for the characters who reside at Mickey's Toontown in California.

I also have pictures from our Honeymoon in Feb. 1996 where it says Mickey's Starland. I forgot about it until I was looking through my old pics a few weeks ago and noticed it was different.

WoW, I remember it as all 3. I remember myself going when I was a child and it was Birthdayland. And I remember taking my little sister who was 5 or 6 when I was in my late teens and it was Starland... that's amazing.

Once upon a time, in 1988, when I was 2 years old and took my first trip to WDW, it was called Mickey's Birthdayland. I have on video the whole train ride there and the birthday show. I have heard that Birthdayland and the train station were all meant to be temporary but because it was a big hit, they kept it. The train used to be the only way to get to Birthdayland (We're rollin', we're rollin', we're on the express, Mickey's Birthdayland express! We've got a big surprise for Mickey, a birthday bash for Mickey, BIG surprise for Mickey Mouse!). It was themed to Duckburg and had a bunch of cute little storefronts and such.

Mickey's Starland had a show with the characters from the Disney Afternoon shows.

Wow, does that song on the train bring back memories! And wasn't there something in the show where the birthday cake burnt or exploded or something? I just remember some really loud noise and smoke that scared my DS. And remember all the big circus tent tops?

In the second room after the show, the characters came out and danced on a huge cake, and I think it did some kind of popping with confetti maybe.
