I would only eat at Tony's as an act of desperation. Most reviews of the Italian cuisine at WDW are pretty lukewarm and Tony's clearly isn't the best of the bunch.
Seems hit or miss to me. I just had a lunch there in July, and we were all actually pretty impressed. My parents were there again in October and said their meal reminded them why we hadn’t been there in 10 years.
My mom recently commented about wanting to try here (I didn't mention how terrible I have heard the reviews are). Is the theming Lady & the Tramp style? I get the food is blah & I would totally go in with that expectation (a Dole Whip after would fix everything right?). Just wasn't sure how the theming inside was & if it's worth doing it just for a "one & done"?

There’s hardly any theming at all. It just looks like a “fancy” restaurant. There’s a statue of Lady and the Tramp and that’s about it. Unless it’s been changed greatly since we were there last.
Well, I really actually have always had decent meals at Tony's! But going next Friday again for the first time in about 15 months so I'll try to report back!
Just an update we ended up splitting our group. My daughter is going with her friend to eat there and the rest of us are eating at Skippers (which I like).
We did Tony's last October after many years after hearing it had improved. I had the chicken parm and it really good. DW had the spaghetti and meatballs and that was fine as well. I even finished her leftovers a day or so later in our room. The sauce was better than we remembered - I think that's the key.
