My family and I were in Disney earlier this year, and were on the raft coming back from Tom Sawyers island.Well, everyone happened to see the dream team waiting for the raft as we docked. So my family waits for the people in front of us to get off when all of a sudden a couple of children come pushing in front of us.Then we hear thier parents calling to them, and they come with 2 other adult, who might have been grandparents, and they push forward, not just in front of us,but in front of a few others as well. They are saying,"Excuse me please,my kids just went ahead and I dont want them getting off without us." Of course they didnt even wait for anyone to move aside, but just cut right to the front. And then what do you know? This entire family of 7 gets lead aside,as well as a few people who were ahead of us and deserved to ,and just as we are able to get off,we are led with all the other unlucky few away from the winners of a dream. We were pretty annoyed by this,as we knew if we had been able to get off as we were lined up to,then ourfamily would have won a dream as well. I know it may sound petty, but I am wondering if anyone else has had bad experiences with people being rude in making sure they got a dream? The people behind us who werent able to get a dream either, but should have were upset about it too. They had to explain to a crying child why he couldnt get a dream.
We walked away thinking ,yeah it is a nice thing for the winners, but the ones who get nothing feel left out and especially if there are children involved, you wonder if it is also the year of a million tears? I am sure in most cases, people aren't like this, but in the few cases,I think when the dream team sees something like this happen, they shouldnt give the dreams out to the rude people who literally steal it away from the real winners. Am I wrong?

I guess it will come down to personal opinions but I have been brought up to wait my turn and not push in front of anyone for anything....queues for a bus/train, in a store or as you found - to get off a ride and get picked for a dream....we were in the World in May and saw lots of people winning dreams - I think I smiled more at the happiness people showed when they won, rather than felt jealous...we had lots of little magic moments and I only just won a pair of Dream Ears and Lanyard set after 7 months of sending in postcards....I never would have dreamed of trying to get the Dream Team's attention for a dream or a moment, we knew about the YOMD but we knew that if it was meant to happen to us - it would have!!

This doesn't have to do with dreams so much as it does with general rudeness and an entitlement attitude. It seems like WDW brings out the worst in some people...fortunately it brings out the best in others, but the worst sometimes seems to outweigh that. I'm sorry your family had to lose out on something because of the rudeness.

Since the Dream Team's mission might have said "Give the dream to the 10th, 11th, 12th... person off the raft" as easily as "Give the dream to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd...", I don't think you have any reason to be upset (other than the general rudeness of people to shove in front for any reason) - the prize designations are randomly set, so the 19th person off the raft had as much chance of getting a prize (if the designation indicated that) as the first.

Neither the people in front of you nor the people behind had any way of knowing which group would win a prize. Hope this makes sense.

i really hate rude people. we were at six flags and this lady and guy almost did the same thing... (there was no child) they just kept going coming through and keep walking in front of everyone and got in line.

i really hate that

Do you think perhaps the kids ran ahead to go to the next attraction and the parents honestly just wanted to make sure they didn't loose there children! I just hate to hear that people purposley do these things, and it may have just been by accident and the family really didn't know, the kids were just too excited to get on the next ride, that they ran ahead, and being overprotective parents didn't want them out of there site!:confused3

I think maybe the kids really did just run ahead and the parents followed, but still, I'm sorry that happened to your family. It would be hard to not feel that the chosen family should have been yours!

I have to say I have noticed while DS is waiting that all the kids just push him aside or cut in front. What happen to good manners?

If the kids really did just run ahaed that is fine, but if you really think about it only takes one person to run after them? Why did mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa ALL have to go chasing after them? Send one person who can catch up to them and hold back until the other family members get off the raft. It's not a difficult thought process.

I don't think the OP is complaining about not getting a dream, but rather that the rudeness displayed is not deserving of the dream. Too bad for that family...what goes around comes around. They too one day will get pushed aside....

We experienced a disappointment of sorts related to the DREAM TEAM. We walked up to get in line at the Friendship Boat Transportation at the WS in Epcot. The DT was giving out lanyards and everyone on the boat got one. Everyone BUT us...(party of 4). Yes, we were at the end of the line. Everyone else talked all the way to our destination about it. They were so excited which did serve to enhance our disappointment. And yes, I did see them shoving the extras back in their bag.

But you know what? As we went into SOARIN' with our FP's to ride, there was the same DREAM TEAM... and this time we got our lanyards!:yay: That made it even more special!

We received dream fastpasses when we were getting off the raft coming back from Tom Sawyer Island. I never even knew the Dream Team was there until they handed us our prize. We were at Disney for 10 days in September. I never saw any other YOMD being handed out. Maybe I was just completly oblivious to this with all of the other Disney magic around. My point is that I would guess these people did not even notice the Dream Team.

No one was rude to us, but it is nervewracking when you are standing in line for a ride and the Dream Team shows up and in my case it was Aladdin so I kind of figured that they were going to pass out lanyards to just the group in the corral for the ride, not in the actual line, where we were.

My DD started to get excited and pointed them out, and I felt obligated to inform her that we weren't sure that they would stay as long as we were in line, and no sour grapes if we weren't given anything... blah blah.. I was secretly hoping right along with her that she not be disappointed. I hated that few minutes and found myself wishing they weren't even there! As it turned out, we got lanyards too so DD got her magic... (though she still talks about getting to talk to Crush more).
