I'm amazed! It truly is rare in this house. I folded my laundry and ALL my socks had mates!!!! There were about 20 pairs and they all matched! I couldn't believe it!!!

I don't think that has ever happened for me. I bring my laundry to the wash-n-fold now and she used to always try and match my socks up as best she could. But now she just kind of folds them all together. lol.

I saw a program on TV years ago and there was an appliance something or other guy on there (repairman perhaps? I'm not sure) that said behind the tub where it agitates, socks (and smaller items) can sometimes go behind that tub. It just gets trapped in there.

We just purchased a new washer less than a month ago and my husband took the old one down to his parents' house. I told him I wanted him to take that agitator tub out of it just to see if there was anything in there. Hey, after over 10 years, there might be some $$$ in there too He's not ripped it apart yet, but I'm wondering what he might find!

I've never had a problem with this washing machine. I have with others though. When we first got married we lived in an apt that came with a washer/dryer. My husband swore I was stealing his socks to use for cleaning (I do clean with old socks, but never took any of his for this purpose!). He really was irritated and I don't think he ever believed that I wasn't. If I asked him now, he'd probably say I stopped doing it to please him and it was purely coincidence that it was at the same time we moved and got a new washing machine!

A good friend of mine had to start washing baby clothes in a pillowcase after her septic tank got royally screwed up by an little t-shirt!

you are my hero! I don't think I have ever had a load that at least one wasn't missing. I use to keep a basket of missing socks! Now I just keep them for a couple of loads and then toss them!!

I had it happen but a couple of the matches where dirty by the washer, I went ahead and put them in the drawer

My DH thinks that I lose his socks and he acts like it's a vendetta of mine! Even thought I tell him it's pretty universal!



OTOH, on the rare occassion that all the socks DO match up, it's one of life's little SWEEEET moments for me! Like washing your hands with that nice smelling soap from Bath and Body Works.

It's the little stuff....

I don't do anything special. I have just never lost a sock. I really can't explain it, even when my boys were small the socks all had mates.

If I had to explain it I would say that the socks are probably lost before they go in the washer, you know under the bed, left in a shoe, in the corner of the closet. This is only a theory, please don't teach it in science class.

Nope, still waiting for that day. With school starting in a few weeks I am tempted to throw out all the socks and start new.
