Surly you jest!??? No way do I want to start decorating for the Holidays before Thanksgiving! I'll decorate for Advent after Thanksgiving is over, and I'll put my tree up a little early (like last week of Advent) and then celebrate Christmas during the Christmas season. Our tree will come down after Epiphany.

Now as for WDW, I understand why they decorate so early. It's a marketing thing to draw people in to enjoy the more secular side of the holidays, but no way I'm doing that at home. I hate it that the stores are already decorating for the holidays.

Its never to early for Chritstmas spirit. I sometimes listen to Christmas tunes during the summer, just for a little uplift and thoughts of cooler weather. :santa:

Really? Religeous ones? I hate it when a Christmas song goes through my head in the summer time.

I do enjoy the holiday decor at WDW though, but then I see that as mostly a secular celebration rather than the traditional religeous one. I do think you can do even that TOO early though.

The transformations happen this week as the first Christmas party is Nov 8th. The Osborne Lights and the Castle Lights begin on Nov 7th.

HTH!

Yes both, the guys at work also think its strange, but i think they really enjoy it also and just dont want to admit itl:laughing:We will be headed there next month, cant wait!

Oh Diane, you wouldn't survive in our house. I've listened to our CD of the Candlelight Processional many times, and there are certain Christmas albums that are brought out around September here, one example would be John Denver's live Christmas concert in DC.

PS. Because of time constraints, we'll be bringing out our Christmas things this weekend. The next chance will be the first weekend in December.

Nope, no jesting here.
Bobbi we are in the same boat.
Our vacation goes from Nov. 23rd to Dec. 3rd. I can't and won't wait till we get back to get started on decorating for Christmas.

We are going pre-Thanksgiving and it's been a very long time since we've been to Disney during the holidays. We are so looking forward to all of the decorations and especially the Osborne Lights!

I decorate the house inside and out on Thanksgiving Week-End! $ days at Disney then home for Thanksgiving and then decorate for X-Mas, all of a sudden I feel like a big kid! I'm so excited.

I wish they would turn on the lights as soon as they were up. I was there last week and the Osborne lights looked ready!

(And in this case, what other purpose do the Streets of America serve in DHS? Might as well use it for something)

My wife and I go through this every year.
She wants to decorate and play Christmas songs way too early.
We compromise; she can play the songs early but we will not
decorate until after Thanksgiving.
I like my Fall holidays separately. Otherwise they sort of blend
together into something I call "Hallo-Thanks-Mas-Day"!

I was there last week, they started putting Christmas stuff out in the stores. The Osborne Lights are all up at DHS, as well as the lights on the castle (not lit).

Yeah for decorating the parks!

And yeah for decorating at home! For me, it's more of a scheduling thing. With a family of 6 and all our travel for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, we are just soooo busy in December that I'd never have time to get it done. I have waited till after Thanksgiving and ended up staying up all night to only get half of it done and none of it right...yuck. If we do it before Thanksgiving, it is done and takes all that stress away. We can then focus on enjoying the events of the season and the meaning of the season.

Now, we don't HAVE to turn on the lights till after Thanksgiving. :thumbsup2 I'm okay with that. But we do have to listen to Christmas music. I don't have any Thanksgiving music!

I agree, it's way too early to decorate for Christmas. Although I may put out my clear lights soon to avoid doing it when it gets colder. But my decor will be all pumpkins and turkeys until after Tgiving Day! I'm getting used to the retailers putting out Christmas stuff this early, although I still don't like it, but planning ahead is a good thing I guess. I LIKE the idea of decorating for Advent but unfortunately I don't get that far until about the 3rd Sunday...but then again, one of my many nativity sets (the BIG one that won't fit in any of my storage containers) is out all year round because I don't know where else to keep it! So I guess in truth my only rule is, there are no rules! :rotfl:

We'll start this weekend too. We go down on the 5th-12th so there's not really much time when we get back. Gotta get'er done! :lmao:

You must be going to Disney the same time we are. We are there from Dec. 1-8. That's a bit of a change for us. We usually go the first TWO weeks, but I feel like I have to scramble too much to get ready for Christmas at home when we do that, so this time it's just the first week. Then when I get home, I'll actually be ready to decorate the house. We don't put our tree up until the last Sunday of Advent, but I like to get the other decor up before that. It's kind of like I seperate the secular stuff (stockings on the mantel etc) from the more religeous ones like the cresch and tree.
