When we did the free DP in Sept. of 2007, I felt like the service was not very good. It seemed like once our wait staff knew we were on the DP and they knew their tip was "in the bag" our service was "out the window." With a few exceptions like CG and Chef's de France (where we tipped in addition) we were often abandoned with our 3 kids for up to 30 minutes. I don't know if it it was due to the wait staff being overwhelmed or if they just didn't care since they figured they weren't getting any more tip out of us.
I left with the impression that I wanted control of tipping back, so I was pleased when Disney pulled that out of the Dining plan. Not so much please that they didn't lower the price, too, but I suppose the alternative was leaving it in and raising the price.
Anyway, I'm wondering if all you DP junkies out there have noticed an improvement in service. Also, have the predictions of wait staff getting the short end of the stick come true? Just wondering how this has all turned out now that all the furor has died down (assuming it HAS died down).
