Has Maleficent been removed from Disney's Villain Roster????

Ok, Maleficent was, is, and always will be evil. The new movie does not show "her side," but it creates a completely separate story. The original, (and IMO, correct, haha) King Stefan was a loving, doting father. Aurora was raised by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. And Maleficent had no relationship whatsoever with the princess, and was indeed killed by Prince Philip. I honestly wish they had changed Stefan's and Aurora's names for the new movie so people wouldn't try to "change" the story. It's a lovely movie, but is not a prequel or other side.

Ok, off my soapbox!! Can you tell I'm a little upset that they messed with my story!?!? Lol!!!!

And, in all honestly, yes, I imagine she will be there at the event, as others have posted, it's a partial list.

Totally agree If they wanted to create a back story for her it should have been with a different king and princess and made it a prequel. This makes no sense

I'm so glad I have at least two people who see the movie my way!!! Hahaha!!! DH said I just needed to get over it, but it makes mad. I actually really enjoyed the movie, but it should have had all different names or at the very least been identified as existing in some other dimension or something! LOL!!

Regardless of how the movie ended, Maleficent had ill intent. She cursed the child. Her learning to love the child had no bearing on the fact she was portrayed as evil in other areas of her life. She will always be a villain.

But in learning to love the child she found redemption!

(I'm just biased in that I never really cared for Disney's Sleeping Beauty story until now. The original is still among my least favorite Disney movies).

Maleficent in the new movie is not exactly a good guy either. It may have made it more understandable what she diid, but she was still very much in the wrong to curse a baby then basically dedicate 16 years of her life to secretly tormenting the child and her caregivers on a daily basis. It's petty (and funny and kinda awesome too), but she's still messed. Knowing why doesn't really excuse her behavior, whether she came clean at the end or not.

So, I'm gonna still say villain, though perhaps a more reluctant one. She's still capable of some bad stuff though.
