Has it been awhile since you stayed at your Home Resort?

We have our yearly fall trip to WDW booked at AKV and it got me thinking that I have not stayed at our home resort (SSR) since our first trip down as members in May 2004.

Let me say that I loved SSR when we stayed, thought it was great. My wife stayed on a girls trip in 06 and the half marathon in January of 2007, but both times I was home with our daughter. Since that time we have stayed at BWV, OKW (2) and now AKV for the second time. One of the things we liked about DVC was having the choice of resorts. I wanted to stay at VWL, but nothing was available (did not want a split stay), so we booked AKV again. I also must say how impressed we were with everything at AKV last October (Staff, food, rooms, parking) - it was probably the most Welcome we have felt at a WDW resort, and since the custumer service is usually excellent, that is saying something. It seemed like someone was always there to help, and very eager to please. We loved the staff.

Just got me thinking that it has been 6 years since I have stayed at my home resort. How about you?

We haven't ever stayed at our home but not for lack of want. We have stayed at the AKV and OKW but that was with our friends and before we bought DVC.

Our last Disney trip was to Disneyland this past June and we stayed at the GVC.

I am dying to go home! December 2011 will be our first trip home.

well if it was still OKW -it would have been years - but since now at BLT -no it was in May - although not staying agan until Dec.

It has been 2 years since we stayed at VWL but that is only the second time we have stayed there in 10 years so we aren't much different. We wouldn't have stayed there then except that we left the lodging decision up to the family we were taking. I am not as fond of the valet homes.

I'm not a big subscriber to the "own where you want to stay" mantra that most are. I bought at OKW becausae it was a great deal on the resale market, but we've never stayed there, and not I'm not sure when we will. We have always stayed at either BWV or BCV (we love the Boardwalk area) and next month will be staying at Kidani.

It's been a few years since we stayed at VWL but, we are booked there for this coming January. Since we bought there in early 2001 we've only stayed there 3 times. OKW is our other home and we stay there one or two times a year.

I joined in October 2008 at AKV. Our first trip to AKV was May 2009, which was unfortunately cut very short since my grandfather passed away as soon as we got there. We've stayed at two more resorts since then (VWL in August 2009 and BCV in January 2010). We've now stayed at every Disney DVC resort except BLT. But since we really didn't get to experience AKV in May, we decided to stay there in October 2010 for our Food & Wine and MNSSHP trip. So it's been a little over a year, but we're going back soon!

As for my parents, they joined at SSR in March of 2005 and have yet to stay there! My sister and I have stayed there twice already, but both times without our parents. We're taking a big family trip with our parents again in May 2011 (since our May 2009 trip didn't work out), but we plan on staying most likely at BCV or BWV. I'm sure they'll eventually stay at SSR...we just don't know when!

My trip next week will be my first trip I didn't stay at my home resort of BLT. I've been a member for 1 yr. This will be my third DVC trip. I have two more reservations and they're both at BLT. Who knows I might try to change the one for next June. But if it stays the way it is - Out of 5 DVC vacations 4 will be at my home resort.

January, 2009, VWL with NO CHRISTMAS TREE!! (they took down the Christmas decorations at VWL early that year).

So technically, VLW for Christmas in 2007 was our last time there (that Jan trip just doesn't count to us!).

But this will all be rectified 12/2010!

It's been a few years for us (BWV). We tend to stay more at VB and HHI. When we're ready to head back to the world we stay at our home. Except last year we had a family gathering and really could only work it out at WL.

NOPE not us. We just left SSR on Wed. Our other home resort is AKV Kidani and we were there last summer for 2 nights.

We own at both SSR and VWL. Stayed May 2010 SSR and are doing a split stay December 2010 VWL/SSR. Love them both!

We just bought last year and owned both BLT and VWL during our summer trip--both at which we stayed.

We go next week and we will once again stay at BLT (our only home resort now) for part of the trip and BCV for the other part.

Since we bought BLT for the sole purpose of staying there, we won't be going on any trip to WDW that doesn't include at least 1/2 the trip at BLT.

We have 3 home resorts (hopefully to be 4 soon) - BCV, VWL, and OKW. Since joining DVC last year, we have stayed at BWV 3 times, SSR, BCV and Kidani. We have only managed to stay at 1 of our home resorts. We have a trip coming up in Sept and aren't staying at any of our home resorts. When we return next May, we will stay at 1 or more of our home resorts - our boys fell in love with Kidani, so we will try and spend some time there if a villa is available at 7 months.

According to my sig, it was 2006. We own BCV but love OKW for the low points. We just tried out BWV last month and totally loved it too. DS6 wants to stay at the BCV again next visit but I'm not sure yet where we'll end up.

We want to try all the resorts, but our Jan trip we stayed at THV and we own at SSR, and we've since had four stays at VGC where we also own. We plan to purchase at BCV and VWL as soon as our refinancing loan comes through and then we will be booking stays at both resorts (provided the contracts either materialize or we pass ROFR!) We have stayed at BWV and Kidani, but are firm believers in own where you want to stay! Not that we don't love SSR, but we love VWL and BCV too. We will also be adding on more points at VGC if they are still available when our loan comes through!

We stayed at SSR in July 2007, AKV - April 2008, and haven't stayed at BLT yet, but can't wait to!

We have also stayed at BCV, BWV, and recently the Polynesian (although not a DVC resort). Our goal is to stay at all 7 WDW DVC resorts!

Have not stayed at OKW in 10 years
but
our oldest dd and family will be there next month in a 1 bedrm.
She really wanted the BCV but booking 2 months before I was happy to get OKW for them.
