Has frozen pizza declined in quality lately?

Lately it is very hard to find a decent frozen pizza and I think it's because frozen pizza has declined in quality these days and the only frozen pizza that actually tastes great is Red Baron Pizza. Take for example I tried Freshetta "sorry about the spelling" Pizza and it was like a French baguette with pepperoni and sauce on it and I do not know how people can buy Freshetta Pizzas. But the only other frozen pizza I do like is the Celeste Pizzas and their pizzas actually taste great. But if you go to any supermarket all the frozen pizzas they have now are either tomato and basil or veggie pizzas. I mean where is combination pizzas pepperoni pizzas and Hawaiian pizzas? Because pepperoni pizza is a favorite with everyone next to combination pizza and Hawaiian pizza is third. But if frozen pizza continues to decline in quality I don't know how they can improve them

Screaming’ Sicilian and Motor City Co aren’t terrible. But it’s so easy to make homemade even with store bought fresh dough, that I do that most of the time.

Tombstone is awful. Terrible!

Now I'm hungry for a frozen pizza! It's been a long time since I've had one, but my kid eats the Red Baron thin crust ones a lot. The Whole Foods brand are pretty good too. I don't eat meat, so tomato/basil or a veggie pizza sounds perfect for me! I have never had an issue finding a frozen pepperoni pizza for the kid though.

I like the Freschetta Spinach/Mushroom and their Pineapple/Ham. Screamin' Sicilian Supreme pizzas are loaded with goodies and come in regular and thin crust, which my husband and son like (pepperoni and sausage just kill my gut so I stay away).

And now I’m craving a pretzel 🤔😀

This is absolutely not true here in Wisconsin! We have so many great varieties of frozen pizza available! I would never buy any of the brands you mentioned.

If I buy a frozen pizza it’s usually from one of the local pizza places and all are great. I don’t tend to buy them at the grocery store. I recently bought a goat cheese and honey frozen pizza from Costco and it was surprisingly good.

I don't know why anyone still buys frozen pizzas when just about every grocery store has "fresh" take and bake pizzas. We usually do one of those doctored up unless we decide to order from somewhere. Used to do homemade a lot before I got laid off because I could sometimes get Boboli crusts dirt cheap. And I have occasionally made pizza with one of the pre-made dough balls, like when I tried to do Detroit style or when there were leftover Spiedies I wanted to use up on a pizza.

Also, having no freezer room because you've got a side-by-side fridge helps break you of the frozen pizza habit.

Screamin' Sicilian was good about 3 years ago. They DRASTICALLY reduced in quality and now they are not worth buying. They used to be decent size and loaded with toppings. The crust quality and the quantity of toppings are now down below Freschetta / Digiorno. Shaws frozen pizza is pretty darn good! They do put a lot of toppings on. It's on par with Freschetta / Digiorno.

Not one of those types of pizza would make my favorite list. I like cheese and sausage. Sometimes, i will add pepperoni to that. I am from Chicago originally and am super picky about my pizza. Hawaiian pizza is 100% a no-go for myself and anyone I know. I don't buy frozen pizza ever. It is just as easy to go to my Chicago pizza place for a meal. Plus the owners are now good friends and treat us like family - I text ahead of time and they save us our "favorite" table.

We haven't had a frozen pizza in years. We used to buy Schwans frozen pizzas, which were identical to Red Baron, not surprising since Red Baron is owned by Schwans. No more Schwans as they shutdown, but Red Baron does appear to live on.
Grew up on frozen pizza and Chef Boyardee pizza kits. As for fresh grocery store pizzas, they are fine too.

I would sometimes get the totins frozen ones they are small and worked well here at work but the last one i got the cheese on it tasted like powder. It wasn't good at all.

I’ve been buying Di Fara on sale recently, before that it’s been decades, we have awesome local pizzerias and most have free delivery.

DH loves pizza and was given some frozen pizza at a friend's place, he came home saying the Rao's Pizza was good. When I looked it up to get the spelling right I noticed it is buy one get one 50% off at Target right now.

best brand we can find frozen is drafthaus (nice selection as well). trader Joe's has some good frozen flatbread style. walmart's take and bake flatbread pizzas freeze well and they have some good/unique options (the spinach artichoke is great).

I only recently learned that papa murphy's can be frozen (have to plan to thaw for 24 hours though) so we've taken advantage of a few good deals with them to cook at a later date.

convenience. not everyone lives in close proximity to a store or can get there when they are available (stores around us run out by the time someone can get there after work). allot of people buy the take and bake but still freeze them.

chef boyardee was the 'overpriced name brand' according to my mom-she bought Appian Way brand :rotfl: I honestly do not remember eating frozen pizza as a kid.

I get the idea here (and I eat and 'like' some frozen pizza), but for some reason all I could think to myself was that "frozen pizza" and "quality" don't really seem compatible 😁

@bama_ed This thread made me think about you and frozen pizza at FW, but this appears to be talking about frozen pizza in general...lol.
