Theres so many sob stories out there on the R/T board they all put a lump in my throat, but seriously the R/T board is starting to look more like a begging board for charitable donations of better accommodations. My guess is that there is a lot of desparate people out there trying to get a delux room for the price of a value and with what looks to be an explosion in the number of rentees against the number of people with spare points to rent competition to secure a cheap rental is going to get worse.
The stories of I want to suprise my young DS/DD dont wash how many kids give a damn about the size of a room or arcitecture of a resort, I imagine the vast majority of kids would rather look out at a giant Buzz Light Year or supersize tub of playdoh any day of the week and cannot imagine many kids want to spend any longer than they have to away from the parks anyway. No its their mothers who are posting the reservation wanted thread that really want the room they may have even convinced themselves that its for their 8 year old kids benefit but really its for there own.
Sure some of the folk will be genuine with what they are telling us but you can bet that a lot are not, and anyway why should a renter need or want to know why a person who wants to rent points wants to go to Disney anyway. We all know the reason in the vast vast majority of cases is money, pure and simple, saving money or getting something that otherwise the person is either unwilling or unable to afford the cost of. The fact that there are resorts at Disney that cost a lot less than the rack rates at our places makes a lot of the stories look weak as there is plenty of opportunity to still stay onsite at Disney but just not in such a nice room but one that still clean but perhaps not as comfortable or of such a high decrotive standard.
I cannot imagine Disney has a list of reasons why a room should be rented at a lower rate from them and I am pretty sure that hardly anyone contacts CRO and tells them their reasons for traveling before getting a room from Disney or asks them if they can have it cheap so they can surprise their kids so why tell people on these boards whilst touting for as cheap a deal as possible either.
I do however feel that it is very unfortunate for the genuine cases out there who could perhaps do with a little help and there are some very generous DVC owners out there who are willing to help but genuine people dont get it because it has become impossible to know which bad luck stories are true and which not and which are truly deserving.
