Hi!
I'm trying to convince Dh that downloading DING won't kill our computer. He thinks it'll slow everything down and let hackers get through very easily. Our friends downloaded weatherbug ( a live update system for weather) and it crashed their computer.

Has anyone had any problems like this with DING?

I have a firewall and other security stuff on a fairly fast, fairly new computer. That said I've had no problems at all with Ding. It didn't cause any problems at all.

I put it on both my computer at work and my computer at home. The one at home, which is brand new, I've had absolutely no problems. But honestly, I took it off the one at work. It's an older system networked with my Home Office in L.A. (I'm in Oklahoma) and I truly believe it hung me up a few times. I finally noticed that right before it went to "ding" me, it would sometimes cause my computer to lock up and I would have to manually reboot. It just wasn't worth the bother to me anymore. Besides, my company might not have liked me doing that anyway. ;)

It works great on my computer. Weatherbug is notorious for causing computer problems. It is classified as AdWare. I keep pretty current on programs, downloads, and junk which trash computers since I have a teenage son and multiple computers :) and I haven't read any negative feedback on DING.

Thanks everyone!

He still won't let me do it. I can't do it at work either, so I'm going to ask our friends that will be coming to WDW with us to get it. They're on the computer more often than us anyway.

Thanks!

I had to disable my Norton Internet Security for 5 minutes to be able to download Ding. Then after I downloaded it, Norton asked me if I wanted to allow it and I said "always allow" it. It runs great. No problems. I've got Windows XP.

I have DING on my laptop, desktop and my work computer. All are XP Proand I have no troubles at all. I'm an IT person and have a lot of strange stuff on my PC's and there has not been any adverse effects at all.

I would never run Weatherbug. It is adware/spyware and causes all sorts of problems. We remove it from any computer at work when we find it.
