Has BWV gone downhill? Any good rooms?

I've been reading a lot of negative posts about BWV lately. We're going in ten days - should we brace ourselves?

Can anyone recommend some good room numbers for a 1BR standard non-smoking? I'd go so far as to fax BWV a list of requests the night prior to ensure a decent room.

Thanks!

The BWV is a great resort. It has not gone down hill at all. Don't bother requesting a specific room because you will only end up disappointed. The chances of getting a specific room are remote.

Brace yourself for the great time you will have. The BWV is and always has been one of the top rated time share resorts in the world.

Just returned from my 50th birthday trip on Friday and the BWV still has all the magic and charm it had when we bought in 1999. The exterior reburbishment makes it look like new and the staff were fantastic. It's easier to pick on the little problems than it is to praise the entire experience.

Please take all negetive comments about resorts here with a grain of salt. Many complaints are lodged, but few remark on their good times. I dare say there are FAR more good than bad!

Just returned 12/12 from a standard view room at BWV. Room was in perfect condition - as always!

Do not worry! In fact, my advice is to quit reading the negative reports on rooms. You can't control your room assignment and it is very unlikely that you will encounter the same problems reported by others, anyway. Reading those negative reports right before you leave will just detract from your excitement and there is a HUGE chance it will all be for nothing!

Don't set yourself up for disappointment by faxing in a lot of requests. Your room will be fine! If you do fax, keep your requests general - N/S (or smoking), close/far from elevators, upper/lower floor, etc. Keep in mind that the resort will be at capacity and the CM will have limited (if any) ability to change your assignment.

I often have trouble believing some of the negative reports posted here as our experience has never been anything like what is described. (We usually ask just for smoking and upper floor. Have not always received request (except for smokling), but have always had a room in excellent condition).

Not saying people haven't experienced problems - just that it isn't the norm and we who have good experiences just don't post . If we do, the thread doesn't get as many responses and quickly moves off the radar screen. IMHO, that is true for all the resorts. Just read the Resorts Board for awhile. There is always a thread or two about a negative experience at one of the resorts. All the resorts seem to get hit and it goes in cycles. You never know which one will be on the "hit list" next.

Don't worry! You will have a great time at BWV. If you encounter any room poblems, just call and someone will take care of the problem!

Enjoy your trip!

I agree with the rest. Believe me BWV is a wonderful place and you will have a great room and a great vacation. The reason you read a lot of negativeness on these boards is because lots of people who had a wonderful room and had absolutely no problems forget to write about their room experiences. And the ones who do vent, some with good reason too I am add, stick out in our minds. There is far more wonderful and nice accommodations than the negative. It always amazes me when I check in how wonderful my room is as I am always sure I am going to get that dumpster view or bad accommodations. Yes, I might get one and have to deal with it but then I know Disney will fix the problem and I will be on my way to the swimming pool or the park having a wonderful time with my family. Enjoy your time at Disney as it will fly by!

The room # was 3123. 4123 would be the same, 2123 is the same but smoking.

Actually, 3123 is slightly better than 4123 for one reason -- on 4123's balcony there are only canopies above the doors, with the rest of the balcony uncovered and thus more exposed to rain. 3123's balcony is totally covered by 4123's balcony so it stays drier. This was especially true when we stayed there in August and it rained every day!

don't take all of the posts here to heart. Some people complain about everything. All the DVC resorts have some bad views or something. If posters wouldn't post about the little things that happen all the time (like a light bulb out, missing a fork or dust over the doorway top trim  ) people wouldn't be so upset before their trip. These are little things that HK or Maint. can take care of easy. I think some people just look for things to complain about.:chat:

lots of negative, negative, negative reports about all the resorts.

Have fun and you will love the BWV:wave2: :wave2:

Here is another thumbs up for BWV. My last trip was last month for 10 days and everything was perfect. The villa was immaculate and in perfect condition, the CMs were great, etc. The only negative I experienced was valet parking seemed to be short staffed and there was a longer than usual wait to get your car, but it was only a few minutes longer. Enjoy your trip!

This board, like many message boards, is like listening to talk radio. The ones that post are a small minority of the available population but their views seem to take on a disproportionate importance.

BW is a great resort. You will, in all likelihood, have an outstanding time. Don't let the negativity of some posters influence your outlook.

Have a great vacation!!!

I just got back on 12/11 from my first visit at BWV one bedroom.
It was a solo vacation for me. I was delighted with my room,
# 2104. My room was not ready at first, no big deal, I just went to Epcot after checking in as planned. When I got to my room,
all I could keep saying was " Wow". It was so perfect, and not too big at all for one person. I had rented points. I used the whirlpool on my very tired bones. VERY NICE ! I even did a couple loads of laundry. I wanted to spend a few days at the villa as a way to celebrate turning 50 this year. I wanted to spoil myself. Now.....next December.......will I be able to get a
simple resort room ? Noooooooo......
And BTW........I didn't even hear a peep from any of my neighbors.

We were there for 7 days at the end of October and everything was perfect for us, as well. We're returning in 18 days for another week and can't wait. Like so many, I have learned that I have enjoyed every view I have gotten and the rooms have always been in excellent condition. I do have to agree that we noticed a slow down in valet parking in October, but other than that we had an absolutely wonderful stay.

Thank you for the positive comments! I feel MUCH better now!

I'll be sure to report the GOOD and bad when we get back on 1/11/04.

Happy holidays!

I haven't been on in awhile, but in September there was a spot in which there were room reviews. We are leaving in three weeks and I can't find the list in the boards anymore. Can someone direct me? I am only concerned about BWV. I know that I can't do much, but I would like to have some ability to know what I am being offered at check in, especially since this is our first trip as members and I have three small children.

By the way, I've seen comments about the upper balconies having walls rather than railings. Is this true of BWV as well? We have boardwalk view.

InstImpres
has a site with room reviews, the search is down but if you PM her I'm sure she will give you the URL.

Sounds like you might be down in January when we are. Have a GREAT trip!
