Has anyone's ressie been cancelled yet over "The Code"

Name this is starting to sound like a Sienfeld episode. So with all the threats about being cancelled , and phone calls are going to be made. Had anyone acutally gotten a phone call or email stating that your reservations will not be honored? Not just a CM saying that it is going to happen but HAS IT HAPPENED to anybody yet.

Just wondering

I didn't book using this code, but, as I mentioned somewhere else, I did get a phone call when my ressie last year was accidentally (honest mistake on their end, misinformation on my end) booked using a code I shouldn't have been eligible for. They didn't cancel it outright, but did say I had to pay full price or cancel.

What they'll do this time around, I have no idea.

What did you do?
I can't believe they would call a customer and tell them they have to pay more, or not come. Disney is getting too arrogant, that would really alienate me as a customer!

Eh. It was an accident, and partially caused by my own reliance on what turned out to be misinformation. I had less interest in endangering the job of a CM who made an honest mistake (and yes, CMs were posting that that was entirely possible) and who came right out and apologized than in going to WDW. Maybe if the situation had been a bit different, I would have insisted, but not in this case.

The cases being described now and my case then are different enough that I won't be using mine to say what anyone else 'should' do. Not interested in going there. My only point is that they can and do make these calls. Whether they will in this case, I have no idea.

I'm wondering how many people who got booked using THE code without a pin were actually booked using the WWOD discount, but the CM didn't come out and say *which* code they were using...... That'd be a positive scenario for people who are wondering if they'll be receiving a call......

I just don't see this happening for legal reasons. Computer glitch or not, if you got the discount, they have to honor it. Any of you from the Philadehia area can relate this situation. There was a story recently in the news about a guy that hit the jackpot on a progressive slot machine at one of the new slot parlors that recently opened in Philly. Management tried to tell him it was a computer glitch and offered him 2 comps to the buffet instead of the $102k. Talk about a slap in the face! He stuck to his guns and got legal representation. When all was said and done ( and it only took a few days), the casino changed their tune and awarded him the $102k. Same situation here computer glitch or not.

JohnnyR -- not the same situation. You'll have to explain to me how playing a game of chance is the same as making a hotel reservation with a discount code. I don't see the linear thinking there. Except perhaps that some people are getting these discounts and others are not. :cool1:

Disney very clearly reserves the right to change the rules with their reservations at any time for any reason they choose. And the MOST they owe you if they do -- is a refund of any monies paid. Period.

Any individual would have a hard time persuing this with a lawyer cause it's just not worth it..

As for class action status, you might have more luck there.. but the bottom line is Disney booking policies would be the 'legal contract' you agreed to when you made the reservation... And I can assure you those policies favor Disney and not you and I.

And on top of that.. Disney goes even further by saying that their cancellation and reservation polices are subject to change without notice and at anytime.

I agree, anyone who was given the code should be able to keep it. Just like you go into a store and if something is marked wrong, they still have to give it to you at that price.... this is Disney's fault. They obviously don't train the CM's well enough!

Dopey:

Yes.. it IS Disney's fault. And they do NOT train their CSR's well enough.

But the store policy you mention is usually capped at items of $10 value or less. Check your local grocery store and you'll see the sign.

C'mon. What don't you see? It has nothing to do with a game of chance but a product for sale. If I buy something at a store and get a sale price when I am not supposed to and the person at the checkout counter didn't catch it, do they come looking for me? I don't think so. Bottom line is people make mistakes, and computer glitches happen. Organizations know this. It is their responsibility to reduce their risk. But to recall booked revenue would not only be a PR and finantial disaster, but a legal one as well. Either way, these people are booked and will spend money on Disney property.

I booked today at 7 am...changed it at noon and again at 8 pm. Without a problem each time.

Johnny:

I agree that the odds of them retracting or cancelling reservations is virtually 'nil' -- but rest assured it has happened in the past.

Plain and simple .. up til the moment your vacation is over -- they reserve the right to do as they darn well please.

You are aware of the BWI issue from last year? And how those people were contacted and offered two choices - pay the correct rate or cancel your reservation. And several of those people had 'paid in full' already.

There IS direct precedent is my point.

How long after you booked did you get a phone call? Some people have already been booked a week and nothing. I hope we are all just very lucky.

In my case, it was less than a week, but it also wasn't a widespread problem, so that may have made a difference. My only point is that while we have no idea what they'll do in this case, they do make these phone calls and it can't be assumed that they won't. Whether they will or not in this case is yet to be seen..... and predicting Disney's behavior isn't a hobby that will make me any more sane, if you know what I mean. <grin>

I feel that if you got the price and your room is reserved and everything than you should keep that price. Same as if something was mismarked in the store and you got it on sale accidently. They don't go to your home and tell you to return it or to pay the full price. It is common business courtesy, if it is our mistake than in it is your gain.

Sorry Pal. I don't buy into scare tactics...

Not a scare tactic. Read the booking rules. And the posts from the DIS'ers who had those Boardwalk Villa reservations that were not honored. It was one heck of a deal to be sure.. but they didn't honor it.

But whatever.. it's an argument over semantics because we both agree that it seems unlikely they're going to do anything about it.
