Has anyone witnessed slow internet?

I had a 1200 baud modem and read Usenet forums back in the day. I can tell you my struggles reading the X-File ones. The content makes this place seem quiet.

I remember when we had a 14k modem - 1k/sec maximum. But then, the internet was so primitive back then, there was nothing to load anyway! With our first iMac we upgraded to a 56k mode, capping at 3.5k/sec, which was awesome, fast enough to download an MP3 if you were prepared to wait Now we have ultra-fast wireless optical broadband internet, so no more waiting Even entire hi-def blu-ray movie files only take a minute!
