Me and dh are trying to figure out where to watch fireworks. The Allears site mentioned MGM. We're either going there or Epcot. Opinions anyone?

I am also wondering about this. Right now, I do plan on MGM on 4th of July.

I watched both last year, so I may be in a good position to answer. The MGM fireworks were at 8, and then Epcot fireworks at 9, so I was able to watch MGM's fireworks and then walk over to Epcot in time to see theirs. MGM's were good, lots of fireworks, but fairly short, I'd say between 5 and 10 minute display, themed to rock n' roll. (Think "R-O-C-K in the USA" song set to fireworks.) I was happy, then went over to see Epcot's, and was blown away. The usual Illuminations presentation, followed by another 5 minutes of extra fireworks themed to patriotic music. At the end was I'm absolutely sure the most fireworks shells I've ever seen shot in a short period like that, and I've seen many. There were so many going off that you couldn't even see the fireworks, just lights and a smoke cloud everywhere with loud booms. Afterwards, everybody was saying "What was THAT??" lol. So I guess it's a choice, Epcot's display was better, but MGM doesn't usually do fireworks, so getting to see some there is more rare.

Thanks for the reply. I think we're gonna start off at MGM. Last year we didn't do fireworks at a park we were at the little beach area at ft. wilderness and it wasn't a good view of anything.

It sounds like Epcot might be better but I'm thinking the crowds might be less at MGM. I'm fine with crowds but after being in a park all afternoon I'm not sure I'd feel like being elbow to elbow.

We're on vacation, we'll make the best of where ever we are. I'll let everyone know what I thought of MGM'S fireworks after my trip.

I also read somewhere that MGM does a sorcerer Mickey firework? That sounds cool, did anyone see that?

I was wondering too, last year we were at Disney for the beginning of the week and then went to Universal for the 4th and stayed at Royal Pacific.
During the day Universal was soooo crowded and hot :sunny: . We were back at the hotel and watched the fireworks from the beach.

This year we are staying until the 5th so I will go to MGM. We were thinking about just staying by the pool and relaxing during the day, avoid the 4th crowds, plus it's the end of our vacation and I know we will be exausted. Then head over to a park for the fireworks. We'll see that's the plan but you never know until you get there   :Pinkbounc :bounce: :wave2:

We did the same thing as freediverdude 2 years ago. We liked them both, but Epcot was the best!
