Has anyone visited WDW alone?

I consider myself a pretty big WDW veteran (11 times in 21 years, probably not as impressive as some of you on here lol), all with my parents/family. Now that I'm older (26) and working full time, I've had so many urges to just drop everything and make a trip. Being a guy its understandably hard to convince friends my age to pick Disney as their destination for a vacation, and my family is getting older and can't exactly go at the same pace as they used to. Has anybody traveled to WDW alone? Is it awkward/weird? Just wondering if anyone has traveled solo and how their experiences were, interested to find out!

Definitely check out the forum for solo travelers. I've taken three solo trips so far and I love it! I was nervous at first, but got over it pretty quickly.

Another one saying Solo Board.

And I went by myself 3 years ago. It was a fantastic trip for me. Not awkward at all, I talked to people next to me in line, I had something to look at while eating or I just people watched.

Thanks for the info! Will definitely check it out, very cool to see this topic have it's own forum

Check the trip reports for a guy named Rob who posts under 'DisneyKid4Life'. He has the best times on his solo trips.

LOTS of us have visited alone! Check out the Adults and Solo travelers forum:

Through this forum, you might also find someone to go to the parks with you, for a portion of your trip or maybe all of it.

I did one solo trip, and it was fun to be able to do anything I want, anytime in the parks, without consulting with a group or companion. But I also met up with a couple who were inviting people to join them for lunch one day, at the above mentioned forum.

You could also join the Orlando chapter of Meet Up, through this site: http://www.meetup.com/

I'll be there for a week, beginning this Friday, on my 4th solo trip - it's a blast!

I have done WDW 3 times alone and Disneyland a few times as well. It is nice. I like to do photography and videography and when I am with others I can't take the time to look around and take good photos. I always feel less rushed alone. I do what I want, when I want, eat what I want. It is so relaxing. There are times when something special happens that you may think "I wish someone was here to share it with" but that is NOT a reason to not go alone. Some people also have issues eating by themselves. I don't have a problem with it though you may find that meals can be shorter this way.

I did a solo, and it is fun, however I did make my trip very short...and I think that worked. I don't know that I'd want to do a rather long trip alone, but 2 or 3 days was awesome. I got so much done so quickly and didn't have to worry about other's whims. Come over to the Adults/Solo threads for lot sof talk about this sort of thing.

Going to WDW solo is on my bucket list of things to do once the kids are gone. We do separate for the afternoon sometimes as they are old enough to do so.

Some women I know can not even walk into a restaurant solo. It is the one thing I miss about living in a big city. Going out by myself to ethinic restaurant my DH would never go with me.

I've gone solo many times. It's great being able to do what you want, when you want without having to consult others. I used to travel solo for business so I have no problem eating in a restaurant or doing other things by myself.

Going solo is most awesome! I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, and change plans on a whim without being concerned about anyone else. Sometimes I just sit on a bench and watch people go by. I am so looking forward to my next solo trip!

I am 25 right now and I always go alone. I just got back from a May 15-25 trip.. Going alone is awesome and not awkward at all. Just be open and willing to start conversations with strangers.

Edit: most people assume I am a cast member with the day off

Welcome to the dis, soxfan. Is that Bosox or White Sox? :)

Most of my trips are solo, probably 25-30 or so vs. 5 with family. Solo is great. I do meet up with folks from the boards here, so not really solo while there. But there are times when I am solo there, and those times are great and cherished.

Enjoy.

I'm going in sept alone. I kinda want to try memory maker, but I'd be afraid it would be weird doing it alone, or I wouldn't get enough pictures to make it worth it.

I've done more trips alone then with or meeting up with others. Last Friday I spent the night outside DHS in an autograph line and never felt unsafe (I'm a 28yo female btw). It's so much fun going by yourself but if you really want to spend time with others, don't hesitate to make some new friends here and do some meet ups.

You will not have any trouble doing photos on your own-but to make it worth it, it is best to get as many pics as possible. I hop in every line that has 5 people or less-drives my friends/family crazy when I travel with them. But solo, I get to take as many character photos as I want:rotfl:

These responses have made a possible future decision for me SO much easier, thank you all so much!

Thanks for the welcome! It's the Red Sox haha, born and lived in MA my whole life.

I have done so many solo trips that I actually prefer them to the trips where friends and family come along. You get so spoiled being able to do anything you want, whenever you want, that it's hard to go back to compromising all the time. If you are the type of person who is comfortable doing things alone at home, then you will enjoy a solo Disney trip.
