Has anyone used orbitz.com for a hotel?

I have never used a online service to book a hotel. Can they be trusted? Will we get the kind of room we requested?
How does orbitz.com work? They seem to have some really good deals. I do like the fact you can choose the hotel and room type but, will you get it? Plus I find it hard to get a room for a family of 5 or 6?
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

I have used Online booking services several times and have never had a problem. We have always gotten the room we requested or better. I just make sure I take the email confirmation letter with me and call the day of arrival.

I am sure you will find much information on this topic over on our Budget Board! Good luck!

I just used expedia.com for the first time and hope my reservations are there when we arrive in October!

Since we're a family of six we ended up making reservations at the Holiday Inn Family Suites; I also had a hard time finding a place that could accommodate all six of us.

Good Luck!

We used Orbitz to arrange a room in Jacksonville (Wingate Inn) on the way down 8/8. It worked great, the hotel had reservation, was right on 95, and a much lower rate than what I could find on my own.

Recently I had used Orbitz to book a rental car. I got a great rate, but when I tried to verify my reservation on Monday, Orbitz did not have any record of my reservation. I called the toll free number, gave the agent my confirmation number, it did not show up in their files.
This is the first time anything like this has happened and I have been making online reservations using sites like Orbitz for several years.
My advise is to triple check all reservations made through online booking companies.
In the long run it worked out better for me because I went to Priceline and asked for a car at the same rate but two car classes higher and got the reservation. $17 a day for a ford mustang.
I should tell you that the rate was for pickup at the Nashville International Airport and not the Orlando area. I am not sure you could get the same rate in the Disney area.

Good Luck

I just recently used Orbitz for airfare, rental car and hotel when we went on the 08/02/2003 cruise. I was a little nervous, but everything went just as planned. They even have a service that calls your cell phone to let you know your flight status; i.e. on time or delayed and at which gate.
