Has anyone used International GMAC?

We found a resale that we like at GMAC, but I'm not sure how the process works thru them. On the other hand, the timeshare store seems so much easier to work with. What is everyones opinions? Also what is the deposit amount or % that you pay thru the timeshare store for the contract?

Thanks

I am new to DVC and used GMAC just about three weeks ago. I love the Timeshare Stores website and it does seem a little more simple to use and up to date, it just so happened that GMAC had the amount of points I wanted and at the resort I wanted.

Through GMAC I made an offer and it was accepted the same day. I had to put a $100 deposit down with a credit card that day. They e-mailed me a contract, which I faxed back the next day. It was sent to Disney for ROFR and 19 days later I found out that the sale had passed. Now I have to wait another 2-3 weeks for everything to be sent to the title company. So far, I have been pleased with GMAC and the service. Closing costs and fees are definitely are more at GMAC than Timeshare Store, but if the per point cost is a little cheaper then I figure it all equals out in the end.

You're going to get very mixed responses on GMAC. I have never used them, but I've seen some happy customer posts and some very unhappy customer posts.

One thing you should be aware of is their fees. They charge a $195 "administrative" fee that noone else charges, and you have to factor that into your overall cost.

I have used The Timeshare Store, the sponsor of this board, and they were great. They've been selling DVC for many years, and they're real pros. In addition to TTS, there are two other brokers (not GMAC) who many here have used with excellent results.

I'm one of the ones who had a good experience with GMAC..some haven't been so lucky. Yes, their costs are high. They had, in addition to regular closing costs, a $195.00 admin fee and then a higher closing cost if you wanted some sort of guarantee title thing, which I got. My price per point was low, but passed ROFR quickly. My contract had no points available, which was fine since I couldn't use them yet anyway. I just got my 08 points as I have a March use year. I saw the extra fees as a sort of initiation into the club, and will now buy add ons through Disney to avoid the resale fees.

We had a great experience with GMAC. Very easy to work with....it was important for me to read these boards to know what to expect. If I had not i may have thought they where ignoring me, but as with any resale there is the ROFR process. But things ran very smoothly.

I may just wait until I can find something that suits us at the Timeshare Store. I just didn't like that there was not a lot of info about the resales on the GMAC website. (ex. Use year, # of point available now, and if any were banked or borrowed). I find myself having to call them for every little question I have. I am glad that I know about the extra fees now, because she did not share that info with me.

FWIW, I had the seller absorb the admin fee and all closing. I bought my contract 27 dollars/pt. cheaper than Disney's price, plus paid nothing additional. Even got previous years banked pts. This did happen with GMAC. So these contracts can be found thru them, but I will refrain from commenting any further about this company! ;)

Used GMAC for my original 2 contracts and am in the process of purchasing the 3rd through them if it passes ROFR. It's a little low, so I'm not sure how it will turn out.

Had good experience and all 3 times, just happened to find the contracts I wanted through them. For all 3, seller paid (or will pay) closing costs. I only paid GMAC fee for one contract, but it was loaded. It was a 120 pt contract had all banked 05 points, all 06 points and all 07 points available. Purchased in January 07 with an Aug UY.

Regardless where you by, discuss your expectations with the broker. On the contract I just submitted, I asked to be notified when the contract goes off to ROFR and also if/when GMAC hears back on whether it passed or not. Just like good/bad teachers, I'm sure, regardless of companies, some brokers are better than others. I've read on the boards about good/okay/bad Dis guides, so it's everywhere...even at our magical place where all should be right in the WORLD!!! :thumbsup2 Good luck!!!

Buckeyefan, did you use the same person for all of your contracts?

We just did a resale contract through the TTS and they required a 10% deposit once the contract was approved. I had a hard time getting additional information for GMAC.

I am using GMAC now. They had what I wanted, BWV with 100 points. That is why I went with them. I am working with Carolyn and she has been wonderful. While I was shopping around I would email her with questions and she would respond quickly. I also called her a few times. Once I found the DVC I wanted, she took the offer to the owner, got back to me the next day, agreement was made & I received the contract on the same day. I know it is early in the process, so far so good. Wish me luck! pixiedust:

I am also using Carolyn at GMAC for our small HHI contract. I called her on a tip from a fellow diser and she had the right contract. It had all of 07 and 08 points with an Aug UY. She presented the contract and got back to me within hours. Next day the contracts were in hand. So far so good here also.

I called a couple of other resellers after reading this post and one was very nice and helpful. The other I felt like I got the brush off. Basically, "I have nothing and will add you to my email." End of conversation. Maybe I was not wanting a big enough contract to be worth his while. Not impressed and this was one that came highly recommended on this board. I prefer not to name them as it just may have been a bad day for this guy.

We recently purchased thru GMAC...Jackie provided great customer service.
The seller paid all fees....I would encourage you to be in touch with a customer service agent, tell them what you are looking for and let them "do the shopping".
Good Luck.
