Has anyone used Hotwire??

I am starting to think about our next trip in Aug and got quoted $242 for 4 nights in a 3 star hotel but never used Hotwire. Has anyone out there?? Which hotels ?? Thanks

I've used Hotwire for a hotel only once, but used Priceline many times. The only reason I used Hotwire was to guarantee a room across from Seattle-Tacoma airport at a time when the Priceline airport zone mapped areas not exactly close to the airport (we had an early flight and wanted to use the shuttle). In this case, I paid $5 more than the winning bids at the time and got a Doubletree ($30 vs $25).

It's rare for Hotwire to beat Priceline for hotels. I've used Hotwire many times for cars though.

Check Bidding for Travel for current wins. Bids as low as $27 have won the Hyatt. It may be too soon to win, but not too early to try. They Hyatt has a habit of turning inventory loose very early.
