I am fairly computer literate and when I have problems I usually call my brother who has taken some computer classes. But I have a problem that has stumped both of us. In Aug my broadband modem died and was replaced by comcast. I couldn't get linksys to work for wireless network but my brother was able to. Couple of weeks ago my ethernet card had to be replaced which I was able to do myself but neither my brother or I can get linksys to work. So now I have 2 unhappy teens that are back to fighting over the computer. i was thinking of calling the Geek Squad to come look at it but I never used them nor do I know any else who used them. Any opinions?

I'd call Linksys tech support first.
I'd second it. I called Linksys when I hooked up mine and my wife's computers together and they were a huge help.

I used them to install a wireless network in my home back in June. They handled everything. I am pretty computer illiterate, so I'm not sure how it was even done. But we've been all hooked up for about 3 months now and all seems to be going pretty well. If nothing ever goes wrong, I guess I can say that they were great! :goodvibes But, if I have some troubles, that is when/how I will find out how good their service truly is.

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't even think to call Linksys.

I had the Geek Squad help me remotely (they didn't have to come to the house, they fixed it over the phone). They were so nice. It was a flat fee ($99.00), but it took about 6 hours to work out the problem, so I feel like I got a bargain.

They fixed the problem, gave me a new spyware program (that was my problem - AOL and their crappy, stupid spyware), and they give you something like 5 days for the problem to come back and they fix it for free. Two thumbs up for the Geek Squad. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

A geek squad guy was just at my house for 2 hrs setting up wireless. So I would recommend them if you don't get it fixed with the Link sys people.

If I knew nothing about PCs I'd have no problem with calling the Geek Squad.... One of my friend's sons is a Geek squad guy. He's very clean, polite & professional. The only stories I hear about are the visits he makes to houses where the computer owners don't speak english and after 10 minutes of trying to communicate the owner will blurt out the only English phrase they apparently know: "Can you fix my F*&%$** computer?!" :rotfl:

I hate linksys! lol and Im sure there is a customer support person out there that has equally hatred for me. After 3 hours on the phone with them I gave up. I called the geek squad guy out and he told me that it was really common that the linksys router has problems with the model that I use but this time is was that my router that was all of 5 months old had just up and died. The geek squad guy told me that since I had to pay at the visit he would come back out and set everything up for me free of charge for the second visit. Good luck with the set up. I rather pay for my peace of mind than have to call them again.
